I’m going to use this thread to update the ongoing status of my 1995 Parker 2530 project. I live in Southern Maryland on the Potomc River. It will mainly be used on the river with a few trips down river to the Chesapeake Bay. I plan on updated the vessel and doing a few things to make it mine.



A little background on the vessel. I’m the third owner, I bought it 7 months ago from a coworker who didn’t have the time to use it any more. In fact he owned it for 3 years and only put around 30 hours on it. Original owner was in NJ, it came new with a single outboard (unknown brand or power).



Current configuration.



Twin 2004 150 HP Evinrude Direct Inject - Installed in 2006 on the stainless marine bracket. They had 180 hours when I purchased it in Dec 2017.



Lowrance HDS12 Gen 2 Touch, Airmar B60 Transducer and LSS2 Structure Scan HD

West Marine VHF580 radio. 8’ Antenna

Custom 8 rod rocket launcher added by 2nd owner.

Bennett tabs 12x9?



Planned upgrades.



Bulkhead station

- Seastar Front Mount Helm HH5261

- 13.5” Destroyer Steering Wheel

There is a soft spot on the roof where airhorns were not bedded properly. It sealed now but the damage is already done. So I’m going to replace a 3’x3’ section this fall.



Theres a few places on the hull where the bottom paint and barrier coat have come off.

First order of business. New barrier coat and bottom paint. A few places were worn to the gel coat so I sanded and added Interprotect Barrier coat followed up with PCA Gold ablative bottom paint.

Fresh paint and ready to go in the water.

Next step. Add bulkhead station. I ordered it from my local dealer Tri State Marine in Deale MD. It took about 6 weeks to receive after order was placed. Also Parker now offers two sizes. A 19” and 21”. I went with the 21.


Installed. Gel coat is a good match for being 23 years old.

Next step was start and stop and tilt and trim switches. I ordered custom dpdt rocker switches from Rocker Switch Pros. Tilt n trim was a new old stock OMC I found on eBay.

I cut out the switches and used West epoxy resin to seal all the edges.

I ended up making my own harness from the front helm to the rear station. All 16 gauge tinned copper. I ordered Deutsch connectors from Amazon to match my Evinrude harness so everything is plug n play.

Rear steering helm is a Seastar HH5261 with 14’ hoses to the front. 13.5” destroyer wheel.

My Kobelt Controls 2092 and 2094 are here, along with the special cables to connect the two. But I haven’t had a chance to haul the boat out to measure the current Evinrude cables.

Dual ring stainless cup holder mounted to dash. It blows my mind this boat didn’t have any cup holders.

Nice work. I like the custom harness [emoji1303] and totally agree on the cup holders, even a commercial fisherman needs coffee . Regarding the 3’ area on the roof, don’t be surprised if the affected area is larger than expected.

I see your boat is the same as mine was as to Forward windows........I replaced the non opening window with one that opens....It's manditory if you want to be Cool.
 
Who ever installed everything on the roof did a horrible job of sealing what they installed. I decided to re-bed the port side antenna which was used on an older gps system no longer in the boat. I’m going to use it for a AM/FM antenna eventually. Also at the same time I installed the SRA-50 Sirius XM antenna. I drilled larger holes, then I took an Allen wrench and attached it to my drill and cleaned out all the balsa. Then I filled everything with epoxy resin and cabisol. Once cured I drilled the appropriate size holes and mounted the antenna.

More progress today. Got the rear Kobelt control mounted up. Also the remote fill for the steering. Now all that’s left is new cables from the engines to the front controls, filling and bleeding the steering. Maybe I’ll get it compete by the weekend. My goal was 2 months ago...

Another long day, finished the rigging today. Both Kobelt controls are now functional. The steering is hooked up and bleed. Only thing left now is fine tuning and cleaning everything up. It took 2 months longer than I anticipated but that’s how projects go.

Just a few pictures after i finished up. Will get more tomorrow when it’s light out.

Just finished up a test run, everything works great.

When I had the steering apart I went ahead and replaced the front shaft seal on my original helm. It’s 25 years old and had a slight leak. Sorry no pictures of that.

If anyone is curious about what was used or cost I put together this list. I was able to buy the rear control wholesale, front on ebay at 1/3 the price, and the helm on ebay much cheaper. If you had to pay retail add around $1000 to the cost.
