Today I installed a MOB+ wireless kill switch. I was planning on installing a lanyard on the rear station but knew I wouldn’t use it 99% of the time.
I saw the Fell Marine Mob+ online recently and decided it was worth the $199 in the name of safety. I got mine with the wrist band. Fairly simple install. Used a 2-1/8 hole saw. The wired it into the existing kill switch. You have to connect the remote fob each time before you can start the engine. Also if the fob goes 50’ away it will kill the engines. The same it the fob is submerged in water.
I know I’ll use this a lot more than the lanyard.

Just a FYI.....I have my amp on it's own Circuit Breaker & ON/OFF switch.

I used a Mini Anl fuse off the buss bar. The head unit is controlled from a switch on the Parker panel. No need for a switch to the amp.

Replacing my LSS2 with the 3D and adding a HDS 12 Gen 3 to the bulkhead station.

Finally go around to installing the structure scan 3d transducer. Had to drill a 1-5/16th hole in the transom to fit the cord through. The transom is super thick.

After the epoxy cured.

And the transducer. It’s a little larger than rhe LSS2 that it replaced, I’m getting a rooster tail at cruising speeds.

I also installed a 2kW “Chinese diesel heater” kit from eBay. It was $185 shipped and arrived in a week. I also ordered a double wall exhaust thru hull that was $60. I watched about 50 YouTube videos before I pulled the trigger. Most are positive reviews. It’s 1/5th the cost of a Espar or Webasto and performs just as well. It’s currently 40 degrees and it warmed my cabin to 70 in 30 minute. Well worth the money.

This project is on my list as well. For the amount I would need it I’m leaning towards the “budget” models myself. Any pics of the heater mounting position?

It's mounted under the gunnel by the table, you can see it in the one picture. I'll take some more of the mounting.

How large is the fuel tank? Regular diesel fuel or other fuels?

B2

It came with a 10L (2.6 gallon) which is difficult to find a good place to mount. It's about 2" too tall to mount under the gunnel. I didn't take a picture of it its temporary mounted with a ratchet strap. I did order a smaller 5L tank which should be easier to mount. The heater is very fuel efficient, it can run on high for 24 hours and only burn 1 gallon of diesel. Theres a large facebook group with plenty of information about them and troubleshooting, I've seen others running kerosene.

Can the heat be ducted to specific locations? I’d love to get a defrost duct for those foggy windshield mornings.

Right now I just have the 3’ section of 60mm hose hooked up. I’m thinking about an adapter and adding a 3” heat tube that expands to 6.25’ so I could use it to defrost the windows and also run a duct to the forward berth. I think it would be to much work to try and run duct up to the windows.

I have the Fell MOB. What did you mean by, "You have to connect the remote fob each time before you can start the engine."? I connect mine when I get on the boat, and can stop and start the engine all day, or up to 6 hours I think is the limit to protect battery life if you forget to turn off. I can walk half a block away before it turns off, a lot farther than I want to try to swim if the wind is drifting the boat. I can also walk completely around the house, stick the fob in a 5 gallon bucket of water in the back yard, and the engine is still running in the driveway. It does seem to work correctly if I put it on a pole, and stick it 2 or 3 feet underwater, which is what I bought it for.

When I turn on the battery switch there’s power to my Mob+. You then have to push the bottom on the fob to connect it as the kill switch. You can then connect 3 more as man over board alarm only. Mine will stay on for 20 hours before it times out. I’ve tested mine and soon as I submerge a fob it kills the engine. If I get off and walk down my dock 50’ or so it also kills them. Maybe yours is the first model?
