Freeboard is plenty fine for the kids. Had the 21 Se and now the 23se and the wife and I always took our 3 kids every time. Just make sure the life jackets are on... On the 21SE, you would really want to have the tabs. Its a great boat, but you would not enjoy it in the 3 to 4 footers that...

I vote for trim it up and skim the tops. Thats how I run Barnegat alot.

I also use a 13# danforth. I have 16 feet of chain, connected in two 8 foot sections with a shackle. When we are not in the ocean, I take a section of chain out. I do alot of anchoring in the bay, and the 8' of chain just makes it a little easier to pull in.

I have 300 feet plus 10 ' chain and anchor in my 23SE anchor locker. It looks about the same size as the 21.

I have 23SE with hardtop and F-200. I max out about 32 knots (38 mph). I get about 2.8 at cruise of around 24 knots or so.

I would almost guarantee it is your helm pump gone bad. Same exact thing happened to me. What you are describing is almost word for word how I would have described my problem. On a good note, mine was just within the warranty period, which I believe is 3 years. Should be covered.

OK, got ya. I've bent a few gaffs sticking green fish. Try the aftco cockpit harpoon. Nice little compact harpoon for throwing a quick dart in them.

Maguro - I have fished off of boats that have those on them. The boat was a 23 mako cc that had one mounted in the bow back when we were fishing for giant tuna. They work, but its much easier fishing out of a swivel rod holder than one of those things. They are much different than a fighting...
