    Enclosure

Just do it, gets easier the more holes you drill 😂

    Filling old screw holes

I buy all my fasteners from MarineBoltSupply.com. They have a huge selection of true 316SS fasteners in pretty much every type and size (no metric though, unfortunately). Prices are good and quality is fantastic. You can buy anywhere from one screw to entire assortment kits; I’ve put together a...

    Enclosure

Reading their page, what they’re advertising appears to be something that may be designed to fit your specific boat. If you go for it, post results. I’d be interested to see how their hype matches their results. Depending on where the snaps are needed, you could do them yourself. Check out the...

    Enclosure

You’re not going to be happy with the generic product from an online retailer. Canvas needs to be an exact, custom fit in order to work. Otherwise, it’ll flap around, not fit well, and not block wind the way you want. Getting custom canvas fit by a local shop is well worth the extra price.

Help with windows for a 2520

Both of my windows are showing evidence of water intrusion between the glass laminate layers- it looks like a milky white film that is inside the glass itself. It’s a bit annoying to look through. You can see a bit of it in the picture below. Additionally, on the stbd side opening window, I...

Help with windows for a 2520

Keep us posted on how this project goes for you. I’m probably going to need to do my two front windows (also a 1995 25’) in the near future.

    Parker Logo Rod Holders

Unless you’re dead set on the Parker branded ones, I’ll put in a good word for the solid stainless Mate Series combo rod/cup holders. I put two of them in the bow of my 1700. These aren’t the plastic ones that had a reputation for breaking- they’re solid stainless and weigh a couple pounds...

    Screws Falling Out of Console

That same joint in my ‘97 1700 are through bolted with nylock washers. If you have access to the back side, that’s the way I’d go.

    Delaware Bay

Welcome to the area! I’m out of Indian River Inlet. Just getting home this week from 6 months overseas, looking forward to that same fall fishing. See you out there!

    2022 Yamaha 150 gauge lighting

Is the “timing out” consistent? Do they turn off at the same interval each time?

    2024 2100SE Radar mount

Looks good. The larger plastic piece goes underneath the canvas, correct? If so, I’d recommend you radius the corners a bit more to avoid creating a sharp point against which the canvas presses, which could eventually lead to fabric failure. Unless I’m not envisioning the install plan correctly.

    2024 2100SE Radar mount

The Garmin radome is not super supportive of having the cables run down beneath the dome. See mounting instructions here: https://static.garmin.com/pumac/GMR_Fantom_Domes_18x_24x_Install_EN-US.pdf As designed, the cables want to run out the back or the sides of the dome. You could probably get...

    2024 2100SE Radar mount

Use some split-loom conduit to protect the cables from UV rays. The conduit lasts a few years before it gets crispy and needs to be replaced, but it’s a 5 minute job to do so and it’s better than the cable breaking down. You can also special order UV stable stuff, but it’s pricey and hard to...

Finally upgrading electronics on 21SE, sticking with Garmin

The only way you’re going to get Clear and SideVu is via the addition of a new transducer that supports those features. In your application, and especially since those features are only really useful at lower speeds, a transom mount transducer will work just fine, as long as it’s properly...

    2024 2100SE Radar mount

I think this sounds like a great install plan that I bet you’ll be very happy with. Probably a better solution than relying on plastic to span the gap, especially with the addition of the pedestal. If you’re so inclined, I’d love to see pictures of your final install when it’s complete.

Very nice! What sort of survey work are you doing with her? I spy a transducer pole mount.

    2024 2100SE Radar mount

I’m looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I’m not sure I’d take the concept of “this is the way the Parker dealer does it” as gospel. I’ve seen dealers do some pretty shoddy work in the interest of getting boats in and out of the shop quickly. The logic for using the welded in...

Common failure points for Bilge float switch? 2020 21 SE

Yeah, you should definitely figure this one out. If it’s still attached to the tank, you ABSOLUTELY do not want to be connecting your tank to DC positive. Regardless, unless it’s fused within about 7” of the connection to the battery, you don’t want that connected to power.

    Batteries in the bilge area

Yeah, it’s kinda a judgement call. I usually just inform the customer and let them decide what they want.

    2024 2100SE Radar mount

The Fantom 18 dome is not a particularly heavy item. Its advertised weight is 14lbs. You’re also not going to be able to cut threads into a mounting plate and through bolt it- the dome has threaded inserts built into the bottom of it, so you’ll have to through bolt it using either the provided...
