    Batteries in the bilge area

For the record Wart, drilling the holes in the containment tray knocks the installation out of ABYC E-10 compliance as the tray is required to be able to contain spilled electrolyte. Not saying it’s a bad idea practically, but it doesn’t meet standards.

    Batteries in the bilge area

What kind of charger are you using? If it’s an older type, it’s likely frying your batteries, which would cause the off-gassing you’re experiencing. Off-gassing to the point that it’s causing pH issues in your bilge water is a definite symptom of overcharging.

    1801 Rocker Panel circuit breaker

I buy mine from the same link that @warthog5 posted. It comes with the new waterproof boot, so no worries there. It’ll fit the panel cutout no problem.

Common failure points for Bilge float switch? 2020 21 SE

That doesn’t look like an unreasonable flow from that size thru-hull with an 1100gph pump. Remember, 1100gph is the pump’s MAX rating, measured at the pump discharge, with 12.6v. If you’ve got a long discharge hose, especially one that’s corrugated on the inside, that discharges a good distance...

    2024 2100SE Radar mount

The wedges from ScanStrut are very nice units, if pricey. Wedge Mount for Power Boat The mounting studs that the Fantom comes with are extremely long. I wouldn’t recommend leaving them poking through the bottom of the T-top. You can either cut them off, or I prefer to buy new hardware that is...

Common failure points for Bilge float switch? 2020 21 SE

If it’s the correct size, and the holder is in good shape (no corrosion, etc.) then I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Also probably not worth converting to a breaker- the fuse does what it’s supposed to do, and in the case that you’re on the boat to reset the breaker if it trips, you’re also...

Common failure points for Bilge float switch? 2020 21 SE

Glad it worked out to be relatively painless. Probably worth checking out why the fuse blew though- they generally don’t just go on their own. If it’s a typical AGC (glass tube) fuse, I’d recommend changing it out for an ATC style. Typically they’re more durable, and easy to determine if they...

    2820 XL Transducer Location

I just installed a B175HW. The body of the transducer protrudes through into the bilge about 4-5”. It’s a much bigger transducer than the ones you have installed.

Common failure points for Bilge float switch? 2020 21 SE

Unfortunately, since the pump is spliced in, there’s not really a great way to do it without piercing/cutting the wiring. The best way is to use a multimeter to conduct continuity checks at various points in the system. I’d definitely check the fuse for electrical continuity, rather than...

    Newbie

Welcome! What part of SE PA? I’m from Lancaster originally, grew up boating out of Indian River Inlet DE. We’ve been running a 2530 extended cabin (recently back in the water after a 2yr refurbishment) out of there for the past 20 years or so.

2021 Parker 2320 and Minn Kota Trolling motor installation.

This only becomes a serious issue if the batteries are being overcharged, as is the case with old, ferroresonant chargers. With modern computer controlled chargers, massive off-gassing like this shouldn’t be an issue. If you’re seeing off-gassing to the point where it’s causing corrosion...

Common failure points for Bilge float switch? 2020 21 SE

Check near your batteries for an inline fuse holder that would power your automatic float switch. Check the fuse to see that it’s intact, and check the holder for corrosion or other degradation. If it works from the manual switch but not from the float switch, there’s an issue with the 24hr...

    2020 1801 F115 - Prop switch

Ken from PropGods is still your answer. The amount of hard data they have from many different combinations of your specific hull, different engines, and different props is amazing. Definitely a good place to start.

    2024 21SE Trolling Motor 24 or 36V

I don’t think you’ll be happy with the performance of a 24v system on that boat. I’d err on the side of “more is better” and go with a 36v system.

    Lookin for some Pro input

I have a 24v 80lb TM on a 1700 and it will hold in about 2.5kts of current. No way that motor is going to do what you want. Step that up to a 36v 112lb model.

    Hydraulic Steering

I like Uflex in theory, but their product ordering is so poorly laid out that it’s almost self defeating. Textbook case in awful web design. No details on products, varying degrees of technical information, no consistency in product display/description… makes it very difficult to locate and...

Largest swells your Parker can take

With these boats, the limiting factor is pretty much never the boat; it’s the squishy pink things inside it and, by extension, the skill with which they can operate the boat. Also a factor is endurance- you and your boat can probably make it through a nasty wave line in an inlet with few...
