Tough to tell from the pics but any chance that the stringers are curved symmetrically and purposefully? The joints look pretty tight for being built with that much sway.

Agree! I did this with my perfectly running 115 2S 2 years ago and I had a buyer on my boat 5 days later getting to see it run through the paces. Sold for the asking price.

Tunagi, if you decide to replace the tank, please let us know what condition the old tank was in and feed us some pics. Those of us still using original tanks are always curious to see what may be lurking below the deck. 🤔

Have you considered removing the railing permanently or converting it to a shorter(lower) railing that terminates short of the bow?

Sounds like a well thought out plan(y). It will be better than it was a month ago. Lousy time of year to be without the boat though!

It's doable for just about everyone. Search past posts on here, as there are some good posts for going about this. You can easily check your sending unit to verify that is your problem. For that you will need a multimeter. Check YT also, you can get a feel for what's involved.

Sending unit would be my guess. Thats kind of what mine did when it went. Confirmed when I ran out of gas.

Not sure I agree with all that work just to diagnose. It's not in a comfortable area but my remedy would be to remove the hatch, use a small right angle air grinder with a carbide burr bit and start excavating that area. Once you open up the area, you will get a feel for how extensive the repair...

Other than being in a tough spot, open it up and see the extent. It may not be as bad as you think. No one will ever see the repair, so you don't have any cosmetic issues to worry about. You got it early so I'm guessing it's not that bad. Excavate, fill with epoxy, paint over it. Is your boat...

So at least its way in the back and not forward. I would think you could get a look back there with a 2" dia. telescopic mirror and a flashlight.
