    fuel tank sending unit removal

I used WD-40, but I'll bet PB Blaster, and a dozen other anti-corrosion concoctions would work just as well. I think just giving any of them a few days of soaking time is the key, before you try to back out any of the screws. Before you start, be prepared for dealing with stripped screw heads...

    Fuel tanks, Sending units, ethanol

How HUGE is that "peace of mind" factor now that you have seen for yourself that your tank is clean and shiny  Nuthin like it.

    2010 spring launch preparations

Lookin' good Kevin! :D How did your fwd bilge pump take a hit when you hauled her out? Seems like it would be a pretty protected area to have gotten whacked. We had some serious winds up here this winter including a storm that featured 90mph winds that came through a few weeks ago. Tore...

Help Building a "False Wall" Please!!

5OOh!, Use your imagination, come up with some better ways to fasten the top, and keep us all posted with photos of your progress! The obvious advantage of putting up a false wall (for those of you who are wondering what the concept is all about) is that once it's up, you then have...

Help Building a "False Wall" Please!!

5OOh!, I found the best way to fasten the false wall was with screws along the bottom of the wall right through the existing wall. I cut the new false walls to terminate right along the bottom of the existing wall, so I could use the bottom edge to secure the false wall. See the photo below...

    Boats and computers?

Jim, Sounds like you've configured a system that works well for the way you operate. The tether option I hadn't considered. Certainly a great alternative for folks that require flexibility in access. I agree that MapTech is the way to go for software. As for the hardware, (the fun part 8)...

    Laptop Chartplotter for Pilothouse Parker.

Nice find Brent, Let me know how the GlobalSat unit performs. Geez, at that price, I should pack a spare!

    Boats and computers?

John, It's been a few years since I first posted my Laptop Chartplotter Project, and I've made some minor changes to the way I use a laptop in the Parker, but the basic elements are still the same. I still use the recessed plywood "docking station" to hold the laptop in place. I still...

Clean debris from the fuel tank

I agree with BradV regarding the access, and when I used mine, I opened the fuel sender. It was the only good way to get a good visual on what was in there. I didn't have any spooge to remove, but could have when I had the fuel sender cover open.

Clean debris from the fuel tank

I found this manual piston pump (essentially a fuel-rated version of a bilge pump) at Boater's World. I used it when I drained my taink and replaced my fuel sensor Fuel Sensor Replacement Project. You can use it to "slurp" stuff up manually with the piston action. Although Boaters World...

    Winter Storage on Jack Stands

Local custom in my neighborhood is the same as Kevin, two piers of blocks under the keel and jackstands in each corner. I use plywood pads under each jackstand foot to protect the pavement, and don't forget the chain joining each pair of jackstands keeping them from spreading apart.

    Waxing---what to use?

Mega Dittos on the Ditto. Same numbers, same process, same results for me. Really brings out the Carolina Flare..... 8) 8)

    Dive Tank Holder/Rack

Nice Work! Wow, 10 tanks and six divers! Now -that's- a load! Do you dress in shifts and drop over in pairs? I'm thinkin' I'm crowded when we pack 4 divers on deck with only 8 tanks. :!:

2320 Stereo Installation - XM and iPod

Nice Job! 8) Not sure if I could be trusted with a remote. I'd have to lash it to a 2X4 or something to keep it from going home in my pocket or going over the side.

    Oil changes

The best part about doin' it yourself is not saving the $$$. It's knowing that you haven't stripped the threads on the plug, and that you have double-checked the filter gasket for leaks. Won't get that peace of mind at Jiffy-Lube.
