Geico totaled the boat after Ian but will no longer be insured by them.

Anyone have any advice on getting insurance,

We plan to locate an used motor, replace drop curtains, ,air repaiirs, etc.
fuel tank is the wild card. I plan to pump out all water and gas and assess.

Glad to hear that you’re going to fix her up. Sorry for what you’re going through.

You’ll likely need to have the boat surveyed in order to get any insurance company to touch it. As you’re making repairs, document everything EXTENSIVELY, with pictures and any available paperwork. Everything you can provide to the surveyor that shows that a system has been replaced since the sinking, or that something has been inspected and found to be undamaged, will work in your favor.

It may be a good idea to contact marine surveyors in your area, and discuss the project with them. They may have some insights on some things you can do to better your cause.
