Purchased in Freeport ME (NC boat) last November

Obviously love the boat!!

My questions:

--As far as trim tabs, which should we chose? Electric or hydraulic? 12"x12"? Boat yard recomends Lenco electric.

--What is the best resource for a center console cover?

Many thanks, EQ

It's basically a 'Ford vs Chevy' sort of debate, but I'd go for Bennett hydraulics ANY day of the week, year, or lifetime. I installed mine new myself 14-years ago and haven't had to touch them even ONCE!

In those same years, many here have reported new Lenco tab planes falling off due to corrosion and have replaced actuators that have crapped out. Their tab planes use a SS piano hinge, but as soon as they weld it, the welding process changes the metal structure to carbon-less steel and they corrode. Admittedly, the Lencos are somewhat easier to install, but to me it is a 'pay now or pay later' equation.

If you can ... try not to go with 12x12s ... but go w/ 9" depth off the hull and 18" wide ones, if they will fit. Trim tabs work by creating lift, but drag is a byproduct.

Always, always, always go as WIDE as you can fit!

Thanks Dale,
Appreciate the time on that. Agree on your logic totally.

One other situation is with the steering nut under the palsic hub on the steering wheel. It is so corrided that it doesn't look like a nut anymore, and the steering damper nut below is totally crunchy rusted out. What will we find when we pull the steering wheel….?? Any thoughts?

Thank you.
