I have come across a 1999 200hp SW2. Motor appears to be in really good shape, but the hrs are not known. Cranks and runs in the shop fine. I plan on doing a compression check, going over the T&T system thoroughly, and checking the lube in the lower unit. Are there any other obvious points I should check? What is this engine worth? Comes with SS prop and side controls. I would need the 704 binacle control though.

(Update: Compression was 120 on 4 cylinders and 115 on 2 cylinders) Does this sound correct to you experts on this engine?

Those numbers look good to me. From what I have read, Yamaha hasn't actually published acceptable compression numbers like other manufacturers. That being said, I've owned 2 225s and 2 200s and they were all right in that 120 range.

I haven't been keeping up with current prices of those motors, so start w/ NADA for your value. But just to give you something to go off of, about 2 years ago I bought a 1988 19' Grady with a 2000 200 OX66 and trailer for $5500 (I think). Pulled off the motor and rigging and sold the boat/trailer for $2000.
