Got my new tank yesterday. Had them build it with 1/4' thick Aluminum and the welds that look like rows of dimes! Sweet
Nice tank. Mine looks like crap to be honest. How much was yours?mine was $1500 for 3/16”

any updates?
Had to go out of town and work slowed. Back now and hoping to have the tank glassed in by the end of next week. Glass repairs have been completed and a Gelcoat/Color Match specialist is due in next week also. We have decided to GelCoat the floor. As soon as we can get that completed we will put the boat back together with tons of new components and replacement parts. Then on to the motor and resolve an overheating issue at high RPM's.
Target date for completion is Mid June. 🤞

How will you set and support the tank? Will you bed it in filler. Are the tabs fiberglassed in or fastened? Nice work!

No Foam! Tank is on a bed of 3/4” rubber strips and Neoprene rubber strips. Tabs are fastened and to be Fiberglassed over. See attached photo. Hope that helps explain. After removing the foam under the tank the Tank now sits a couple inches lower than before but I don't anticipate any change in boat handeling. Notice the new pass thru at the end of the tank (there is one at the other end also) which comes up in the console. Gonna make life easier!
Time to pick up the pace. And Thanks!

Just curious about the rubber strips. Were they any particular type of rubber and did you adhere them to the hull somehow? Thanks.

Good Question! I don't know the answer to Type of Rubber. They were attached with either 4200 or 5200. My guess is 4200 but I will check.

Sounds right. The fastened tabs support the tanks from shifting and the tank sets on “adhered“ rubber. The point of fiberglassing over the tabs is an added precaution to prevent the tabs from pulling out?

For the reversed fitting, I would give the fill hose a wide radius bend so the fuel doesn’t back up when filling. It would be better to turn the fitting 180 degrees but I believe it will work as is, just not as well. The vent will work without an issue, make sure the hose doesn’t kink or pinch.

The adventure begins. Pulled console, Leaning post and Live well. Cut the deck and pulled the tank. The big surprise is that the tank was primarily bolted in with VERY LITTLE FOAM used! (See photos). My tank builder is pretty backed up so I’m looking for a recommendation of a reputable tank builder in Anne Arundel county or south otherwise I’ll wait. Sending leaning post out for recover and polish. Glass guy is scheduled to patch up old screw and bolt holes. More to follow.
UPDATE:
Test fitted new tank, installed and replaced deck. Glass work and Deck Gelcoat to be done this week and next. Then on to reassembling console etc.
