I have been in the process of looking for a boat for about 6 months and have found the subject boat. It is in great shape with the exception of the comming pads being filthy and the Fuel Monitoring System that doesn't work. It has a 200 HPDI which I have read on here and the HullTruth are pretty reliable motors although it recenetly had the power head rebuilt. (Not sure why)

This is a west coast boat so I assume the price will be a little higher due to availability, but I would just like some input on things to look for when I go for my test ride?

Here are the specifics:

Fully loaded 2000 Parker 21' CC with a rebuilt 2000 Yamaha HPDI 200 with less than 100 hours. Proven fish killin machine with the following;

45 gallon offshhore tank
Added row of rocketlaunchers on t-top (11 total)
Autopilot
Hydraulic steering
Washdown
new disc brakes on trailer
Custom SS 4 blade prop
Fuel mgmt system
Trim tabs
Custom boat cover
lots of extras; oil, parts, etc...

Appreciate any input received and if I buy it I think that this is going to be a great site for upgrade ideas.

Thanks,
Jim

I'm on my 4th season of a 1999 21' DV. Honestly can't think of any particular things to watch out for, other than the typical boat inspection stuff... making sure the hull is in good shape, everything works, etc.

I'd focus much more of my time and attention on the motor and why it required a re-build. Make sure that they can tell you what the root-cause was of the problem, not the thing that broke and forced the rebuild in the first place. 100 Hours is not a lot of time on that motor, and you want to make sure that whatever caused the first problem isn't going to happen again.

I have been very happy with my 2001 200-hp HPDI motor. It is dependable, pretty quiet, and fuel efficient. It starts easily every time, even after sitting for several weeks.

Checking on the reason for the first engine failure is on my list to ask. I recall that it was somethnig to do with #1 or #2 pistons but not sure.

So is this a $24K boat? I know that it is what am I willing to pay, but looking for other opinions. NADA guide says $24-$25K with engine and trailer but ther are really none that I have seen sold to get a current price on.

Thanks,
Jim

Not sure where you are located, but you can find that boat for a lot less. Just saw an '00 2100 in Savannah, GA for 16k. I paid 16,500 for my '99.

I have an 01 200HPDI as well.

My motor is relatively quiet, never smokes or sputters or stalls. Power is smooth and instant, even pushing a heavy boat like my 2520. My fuel economy is good, and the motor is generally maintenance free. I change the racor f/w separator every 100 hours or so, adn i change the F/W sep on the engine yearly. I use cheap TCW3 oil (west marine brand), but I am adamant about using yamalube ring free according to specs, and startron (for ethanol fuel). My boat is in water, but I flush the motor after every use.

My motor has bout 800 hours on it, it still looks, runs, and starts like new.

It starts the first turn of the key, even after being laid up all winter. I expected to have to repower after about 5 years of use, but the motor is still problem free and bullet proof.

knock on wood or something.

however DO request maintenence records on the motor, and the reason why that motor needed a rebuild (not common for this motor BTW)

Ryan... I am in San Diego and unfortunetly, there are not a lot of Parkers available. Not sure of the deals that you have, but using nada guide online I come up with $24K and change so your deal was great.

Capt Jim.... Thanks for the information. I have not made my final decision to buy this yet, but if I do I will be sure to follow your advice.

THanks,
Jim

Good point - the whole supply and demand thing. I guess I've been spoiled being down the street from the factory.

Anyhow, I have basically the same setup and love it - '99 2100 with an '00 200 HPDI. Get an independent survey (something I wish I would have done) and if possible, try to do your sea trial on a nasty day. You'll really get a good appreciation for that boat as it will take it better than any other 21' made. I've crossed the Pamlico in a 15-20 kt head sea watching a 23' sailfish take a beating and soaking everyone on board while my beer didn't even spill.

Good luck and welcome to the family!
