Mokee,
Just lazy on the math part. Since the 1960’s I have always just topped off the tanks, recorded the number of hours the eng ran for the trip ( most fishing days were 8 - 10 hours inshore ), topped the tanks off, and calculated the GPH. Usually did this several times a season, and got a good feel for my overall usage. It always seemed to be very accurate.
Yes, I knew you meant E10, but I still can’t see why ( or have never read about ), the harms of mixing E10 gas and non-E10. Having worked in the laboratory field for 30 years, but not the petrol end of laboratory work, I am a bit fuzzy as to the why not (mix), reasoning. I’d really enjoy some places where I could read up on the issue. SInce I am unsure of the gas in the tank, I’m wondering if one fill up of which ever would be harmful. I guess I have a 50 / 50 chance if putting the same type in or not.
I would have thought that the 10 micron yamaha filter would catch all the snot and junk that would clog carbs and injectors, and most of the water. In my last 21 foot outrage I used the yamaha filter, ring free, in the tank, and startron in the tank. I’d love to be able to have the tank pumped out, and flushed, but there is no one in the charlotte area who will do it.
Although the Yamaha 150 on the boat seems to be fine, I guess I need to have an independent service tech go and check the eng out, and try to get a computer print out of it’s history. From what you are saying I’d probably just be better off doing full service of all the filters if I get the boat, regardless of ...
I was hoping that some others would jump in here with their gas mileage info. Maybe I should post in the general forum section.
