I have a 2000 2520 modified V and want to repower with a four stroke yamaha. I am leaning towards an F225 and was wonering if this is the right choice. Any help would be great. Thanks

I would step up to an F250. I've heard that the F225 produces far less actual HP than it's 225 rating whereas the F250 is a true 250.

I have a F225 on a Mod V hull (2510) and it will run the boat close to 40mph. As I'm sure you already know most of the time you can't run fast with the MV if there is a descent chop. I don't believe the motor is "Anemic" on this hull, maybe deep v's but I don't know first hand.

If there is not much of a price difference between the F225 and F250 I would get the F250 for those calm days when you want to zip around.

There are a bunch of 2520's out there wearing F225's on their transoms, and all seem to be doing pretty well.

That said, the F225 and the F250 are almost equal in weight, so which one you select for your boat may well depend on the purchase price.

Given the choice (and the $ to buy it), I'd pick an F250 for my boat simply for that little bit extra power... But if I were offered a really good deal on an F225, the money saved could be a determining factor too.

The 250 is the choice
2 stroke 225 is good but the 225 four stroke is NOT as powerful. It is worth the little extra see if Yamaha is still running the 6 year warranty

When I was looking at new 2310s, the upgrade to an F250 from an F225 was only $900. At Ed's the difference is $1000.
