I've read the Airmar literature and also searched the boards here and have found a little bit of information. I suppose I was hoping to find someone who has done the hard part and successfully located a sweet spot to bed this transducer???

I have a 2013 1801 with no extra holes (at the moment) Im looking for advice on a brand/reliablity of 5" or 7" GPS/Depth cobo as well as thoughts or, better yet, pictures on where the best place to place the p79 would be. Budget for everything would be 800+/-...preferably minus.

Also,

If there are any excessively knowledgable folks in the Severna Park/Annapolis area who may want to drink beer and help me with the install, I would be extremely grateful...I wont hold my breath but there have been some exceptional folks on this site...

Anything good less than $800 to work with the in-hull ducer is most likely in the used territory...not that that's bad, but it will be used and older. And you don't get water temp.

Charterboats in the bay love their Furuno 582Ls, you could do a FCV 627...but if you have 800 to drop I would be looking at new stuff...probably from Lowrance. It's hard to touch their technology for small money these days. Side scan, down scan, CHIP all this is not possible with the in hull.

So why the in-hull? I'm in Annapolis and don't mind drilling holes.

Something to consider...

Give Jim Maier or one of his folks a call over at BOE Marine in Stevensville.
1-866-735-5926

BOE Marine sell and installs marine electronics all the time, and they might have a used take-off that fits your budget.
Or... maybe they can put you into new without breaking your budget.

Either way, it's worth a call.
