I have read posts on the high dollar agm etc batteries but they are not in the budget this spring. What types of what I call regular batteries have you all had the best experiences with over the years. The boat came with Interstates I believe from the dealer and want to go ahead and replace this year wether they test fine or not as they are four years old.

Thanks

I have had good luck with Deka.Want to replace mine this year and I cant see spending all the extra money on Agm batteries.I just put my old batteries in my dump trailer or one of our old tractors

I like Deka too. Most of the "regular" ones that West Marine sells are Deka. I try to get them on sale, usually a couple times a year.

Interstate and Deka lead/acid batteries are quite good. So are the Kirkland brand from Costco.

I am running 3 12V Deka AGMs in two banks on my boat - I like the fast recharge cycle and use a Stealth charging system to charge both banks since I want to run my trolling motor and recharge between stops to fish. AGMs charge faster and can offer more discharges than standard batteries. Still, they cost $200+ each, and lead/acid batteries can get it done. Just be sure to ventilate the battery area.
