looking to do same project. Saw in the 09 Cabela's marine catalog a RAM rail mount spot that can be pluged in or wired. Quicky solution. Make sure if using a GO light type that the base is down when mounting. I thought of creatively mounting one but was told no warrantyif base is not down(water issue)
I was also thinking of the FOX off road truck lights, big rack of 4 or 6 on top. Of course I'd have to change the name of the boat to "Mud Buggy"

any one have suggestions on how to wire this bad boy? Go through the rails or attach the wiring with some zips to the rails.

I would go through the rail, then down thru to the underside of the washboard. You'll have to unfasten the down leg of your railing to drill the through hole, but fishing the wire should be pretty straight forward with either a fine fish-tape, or a string and shop vacuum.

Sounds like you are well on your way!
BTW - That Go-light mount looks sweet! :)

The stantion base is bolted through from the bottom with a one piece rail? How are you going to fit the wire beside/past the bolt? At that distance you will need 10gage wire and two strands. You may be able to go into the rail and back out right at the gunnel and then through. If you drill the rail make sure sure you drill the bottom side to help prevent water intrusion. As bad as the zip ties would look it may be a good option.

why not put the spotlight in yer console and get it out when you need it?

Good idea then you could use the cig plug and mounts above. It will last allot longer too.

I considered putting it on the console but many of the guys I talked to on the site said if they were to do it over again they wouldn't do it.
