Basic questions from a newbie here........1) How often do you need to repaint the bottom (Parker 2530). (I have heard every two years.) How much (West Coast) should I budget for this? 2) What is involed and how much should I budget for typical annual maintenance on twin Yamaha 150"s with 600 hours? 3) What is typical engine life on the 150"s assuming proper maintenance? Thanks!

1) Depending on the type of paint once a year, I used Hydro Coat for the first time this on my 2530 Paint is roughy $100 a gallon, and trilux on the braket about $50 a quart but that should last a few paint jobs. Plus zincs on the motor, bracket and tabs if needed.

I can't answere the question for the 150's but fiqure for oil, filters, fuel filters and plugs.

Lets see some pics of your 2530!!

Paint:
Simple equation is the more you pay (say up to $200 or more) per gallon, then the longer life you'll get. I find best results is an annual application of Hydrocoat or Sea-Bowld (sp? , from Boater's World) ablative. They say the true multi-season paints work, but they're $250+ per gallon!

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the info! More basic questions:

...how much paint to put a coat on the bottom of a 2530?

...how do you prep before you paint the bottom?

Thanks!!

Hey Mike!

Lets see some pictures of your 2530!

I picked up Empty Pockets in San Diego a bit over two months ago.

I had Sundance Marine do some work for me. I am pleased with the work and the cost.

Where did you purchase your 2530 from?

Come on . . . get those photo's going!

Kevin......I just found a clean 2530 and am making an offer this week. If I get it, I will post the pix. If not that one, I will find another. The one I am looking at is on the East coast, and I will have it delivered here.

I have Interlux Micron CSC ablative on mine, and prep consists of a good powerwashing which will strip off a thin layer of material much like sanding.

Hit any problem areas with the appropriate sandpaper or scotchbrite pad and you should be good to go!

What Megabyte said. :D

Also I found a gallon of paint (Hydro coat) to be more than adequate on my 2530. Minus the tabs and bracket as you want to use Truilux on that.

As an aside I found a small roller with a long handle works great for painting a boat on the trailer. I jacked it up off the trailer using stands and was able to paint the entire bottom.
