I hate those damn cup holders with suction cups. They always give way and dump the drink on the deck. Decided to fix that once and for all. Works A-Number-One! Problem solved!

Used square PVC pipe that goes around a 4"x4" deck post. Cut it into 5" chunks, cut slots for a coffee cup finger ring, and slits to hold wire ties. Then a liberal application of very large velcro finished it off. Here are some pics of the project.

I like it! Specially with that CP koozie in it :) ! Simple and elegant idea.

The beauty of this approach, is that I can put those velcro rectangles in multiple places on the boat, and move the cup holders...wherever.

I have about 6-7 of those suction cup models in various flavors. Unless someone speaks up, into the trash they go.

I have two 8' sections of that square PVC in my basement.
Hmmmmmm........ :)

Nice Job Dave!

Yet another fine example of ClassicParker OTB Thinking. (That's "outside the box", not "off-track betting" 8) 8) )

I especially like the cut-outs for the "20 oz Coffee Mug w/Handle". Not all cupholders are created with big-mug coffee-freaks in mind.

Great idea with the big velcro patches in the corners!

When you aren't using the big velcro patches for cupholders, you can put velcro strips on your grand-kids lifejackets and stick them in the corners so they don't run around deck when you are underway!!!

Or put a strip of velcro on the cat's collar so you have a handy place to hang it when you aren't scrubbing the deck!

Take the suction cups off, and replace with velcro, or double back tape? :?

Tony !!!!!!!!!!!

Once, when my new secretary was tossing "unnecessary stuff," :(
I almost had a heart attack  !!

I was emptying the trash can as fast as she was filling it  .

I'd like to inherit those suction cups from you if you don't want them :) :!: Let me know  !

Sorry. :( I don't have any suction cups. It was only a suggestion. :?

But, I have used double back tape with great success. Especially when I didn't want to drill that hole. It even comes in "clear". 8)

We like 'em too!

But the velcro didn't hold up for us...we screwed 'em in as witnessed by the small holes in the face. The upper cup holder is a traditional fold down job.

The plastic plate is held in place by the bolts for the outside hand-hold = no new holes.
