Hey Pelagic,
I just got a set of Grand Slam 250As and want to mount them on my hard top. How was your install? Was the hard top not too thick? Do you have a pilothouse?
Thanks!
Yep, pilothouse all the way  the install wasn't too bad, really, as long as you're not squeamish about drilling the holes. as I'm sure we've all heard about a million times, make sure you seal the core with thinned epoxy, Git Rot, or something of the like. As I recall, the bolts that came with the bases were too short for the install with the backing plates, which I definitely recommend. not a big deal, just had to get some new bolts. the hardest part is figuring out where you want to mount them, and then making sure they're symmetrical. i mounted mine on the inside of the pilothouse, about a foot forward of the after bulkhead (or curtain lip, in my case) and a 8" to a foot inboard, the exact measurement escapes me. make sure you'll have room to swing the handle to deploy the riggers, and it helps to visualize where the handles are going to be when stowed and deployed to minimize head hazards. But, like I said, overall not too bad.
