I got that job done today. This was my first one and all in all it wasn't that difficult. The next one I do will probably take only 2 hours assuming no major glitches.
I had two full seasons and 410 hours on the original pump. From now on I'll change it every year.
I'm glad I purchased the kit from Andy at Shipyard Isl. Marine Engine Parts.

He includes every part needed so there is no salvaging and cleaning some parts that are easily mangled in the removal process.

Here is a picture of my sawhorse workbench that made the job easy. I just took two small pieces of board and screwed the sawhorses together... the boards also made a nice work surface.
If you've been wondering whether or not to do this job yourself I would encourage you to give it a try.
