Actually...Chapman's recommends 1x your hull length.
I had 10' of chain on the OEM rode and had trouble staying on the bottom in swift current. At the CBBT one night, the current was so swift that when I lowered it, the current brought the anchor up and it smacked the chine (see my gelcoat A to Z thread on how I repaired it). I cut out the chain and went to 30' Benny of that drill was that I learned how to do a rope to chain splice.
