Released 14 fish. Kids had a ball. My 8 year old son landed a 39"er!

Shallower bite. All fish off of the planer boards. Solo green parachutes were HOT! TONS of Baitfish!

Here are some shots

You were fishing, and my grandkids were helping me load the boat with all my gear. :(
No problem tho... my grandson and I have the Jeep packed tonight with all the fishing gear. :)
Maybe tomorrow...

So that's what you use for stripper trolling? A little bucktail jig with plastic tail and deadbait on the hook? Looks similar to what we use to troll for grouper; 4-6 oz bucktail, white or redhead, white skirt. We use a ribbed plastic tail with a little curly Q at the end. White, orange, pink.
Usually don't tip em' with deadbait. Interesting...

I only troll 3 bucktail with shad tandems in my spread of 13 rods. I mostly troll all parachutes with shads. For some reason those two tandems catch fish so I havent switched them over to parachutes yet. Here is a what typical parachute looks like (hair goes in the other direction to make a larger presentation in the water).. I dress mostly with 9" soft plastic shads.

The baitfish was just a snagged by accident. When trolling the lures through big bait balls that sometimes happens..Sometimes the bait was so thick that the finder would lose bottom in the morning. We wont catch any fish that way..

Here are the shots my buddy too of the day. see the fishfinder shots:

Sounds like a great day for the crew. Looks like your around Matapeake in one pic and catching everything high. Do you think the fish will be high once there's all the boat traffic come Saturday.

Can't wait for Saturday hope to see your new boat on the water.

Anthony

We were just off of Hacketts can and a hair north on the western side of the bay... Hot bite was 40-55' of water and everything was up top. 2oz and 5oz solo green parachutes were hot. We marked TONS of bait in the shallower water. I dont think the guys trolling the deep water had the action we did. I am undecided about this Sat. The good fishing will be over once the season opens unless you fish the weekdays. I doubt anyone will catch 14 fish in the Annapolis area on opening day. Usually one can walk across the bay by hopping boat to boat it is so crowded.

Here are the things I am considering for opening day:

1. I may be trailering to PLO
2. just launch at SPSP and run the boat 30miles south before wetting lines.
3. Chum the shallower water
4. troll only shallow lines off the planers in shallow water (water shallower than 35')
5. Stay home and clean the boat and listing to the yelling and fighting on 68 from my driveway.

BTW, the boat isnt so new anymore. I think I passed 120 hours on the motor yesterday

I will be fishing some weekdays and found starting around 2 pm it thins out quite a bit on weekends. I will have to give that 45-55' a go. If you go out opening day good luck.

Any boat less than a year old is new in my book regardless of hours.

Greg - Heard you guys on the radio Friday.

I fished near the gasdocks Thursday and picked up 8 fish deep. Didn't catch squat Friday - was still hunting deep at mouth of the Eastern Bay. Seems they were shallower up north.

Made up for it in Easter Sunday - landed 14 off of Breezy all good size, one 40". Only used 5 boat rods - no planers. Fished 3 and 4 oz chutes 120 - 200 back. Color didn't matter much.

If you go Saturday - good luck.

I'll give you a hollar next time.
