i am haveing a hard time finding 1 1/2 inch telescoping outriggers with bases that do not require me to core drill 2 inch holes in my hard top. i have a 2520, anyone have any ideas? will be using them for tuna.

Hi Green 74,

I have a set of these on my 2520, mounted at the rear of the pilothouse.

They are excellent quality to say the least. I don't have the telescopic poles because I heard to stay away from them. I have solid 16 ft poles on my boat.

These of course require a hole in the top, but that's just life. I would rather have the hole and have the control handle.

If you really don't want to drill a hole, there are the simpler, yet harder to use bases.... They are 1-1/8", but you can always have a solid aluminum adapter made by any machinist to go from the smaller diameter to the larger ID of the rigger.

Get quality ones and just punch a hole. If I get a chance later today, I'll pop into the shop and take a couple of photos of how mine are mounted. We are doing a bunch of work on our boat right now anyways.

Mine too are similar to the top-mounted Taco Grand Slam bases. These are older Tournament brand outrigger bases that I bought on eBay. See my post here for more photos and installation tips.

I use these for tuna with Taco telescoping 1.5" 15' poles and put 15 squid 4' Ti bars off of them with zero issues.

i looked at the taco brand, but could not find the base i want in 1 1/2 inch. i like the lees t-top mounts, i think they will end up costing around $1600, i was tryiong to keep it under $1000 but that might not be possible unless i find used ones.

Another option would be to mount Lee Jr Wishbones to the side of the pilothouse. These bases use 2" outrigger poles.

Here is what they look like on a GW Sailfish

Not sure what kind of baits you will be pulling, but telescoping poles can be problematic when pulling heavier baits so keep that in mind when selecting your poles.

Hope this helps.

I have some brand new E-tec poles that I bought off of ebay a couple of years ago haven't done a thing with. I was going to re-ebay them when I got the chance, but if you are interested I will get the particulars.

Just another idea to throw in here...

With some careful planning (actually made a cardboard mockup to ensure it would clear) I was able to get the Taco Grand Slams installed inside the actual rocket launcher. This is on a 2510, not sure if that is the same situation on a 2520.

I installed these Rupps last season and they have worked fine for me dragging double squid bars on each outrigger. The only drawback of these mounts are 1. not adjustable from inside cabin which can be a pain on a rough day and 2. when a lot of force is exerted on the outriggers such as pulling two 48" squid bars, the nut that grips the swing out part of the mechanism may need to be tightened. I love these mounts because there isn't a fixed angle outriggers in the fishing position and I can also control how far out I set the outriggers since they can spin 360 degrees.

I also installed these near the front of the cabin where the roof is thicker.
