Can I epoxy a piece of this to my transom to mount a transducer? I was thinking of Thixo 2:1 epoxy, any better stuff out there in small tubes. I know there was a post but can't locate it.

You can cut a DOVETAIL feature in the back of the block, then fill with 3M 5200, or other thickened goop, plus extra same goop on back of piece. Tape in place w/ duct tape to hold whilst curing, then cleanup tape residue w/ gas or acetone.

Me? I'm 'old school', I glue a piece of mahogany on the back & coat out w/ epoxy, but I work part-time in the boat yard, so I get what I needs for free ...

I don't trust 5200 as a glue (as sealant - yes!) though many do, but I've just peeled it off more boats than you can imagine.

Thanks Dale I think it was one of your post that I read. The product mfger says this ia a adhesive (thixo2:1 epoxy) I was wondering if there statement is true. I am going to mount a tm transducer this spring, I will probably replace it at some poimt with thru hull. I have lously luck with tm transducer but this will be a hdi for slow speed search so I will give it a try.

HDPE is very hard to get any adhesive to stick to. You are more or less forced to make it a mechanical bond with the dovetails cut like Dale said.

Google starboard adhesive and see what people say about gluing it...it's also HDPE.
