How do you know that it is almost spring?

Because the shrink-wrap finally comes off the boat!
Now the real work begins... :)

THATS A BEAUTIFUL THING!!!!!!! Mine came off this past weekend, ready to get to work!!!!

Watching the weather and planning accordingly. :)
I'll update my progress in this thread as I move forward.

OK... I've waxed the motor and the helm with Rejex, waxed the outrigger bases and the rear station with Starbrite Teflon polish... but I noticed that the knobs on the front and rear helm stations were weathered due to time, sun, and cleaning solutions.

A couple of cans of Krylon spray enamel, some wood dowels, and a bit of time in the back yard has these puppies looking better than new!

Kev, Better hurry up... they are here. We got a couple at BPL on Thursday! The water is so dirty that it isnt worth cleaning your boat. I got a brown stain down both sides of the boat. I will wax and detail my boat the end of May

Nice fish Greg!

I don't fish the pre-season, and since my boat lives in the water, I need to get this maintenance done before she splashes.
Hopefully the mud washing down from the Susquehanna will be gone by the time I go into the water for the season.

I have a couple of other maintenance items to work through, but once those are done, it's all polish and wax.
Stay tuned for updates!

Edit: Moved to the "Projects" section in order to cover upcoming upgrades. :)

Nice. That has to be a good feeling.

I'm not in a hurry tho. My goal is to have her in her slip about 4 weeks from now.
That should give me plenty of time for what I want to do.

Just returned from the local wood shop where I'm having a piece of teak custom cut for my helm.
Also just ordered some polished stainless backing plates so I can re-mount my rocket launchers.

Project photos to be attached here as work progresses.

Shouldn't take me long to get her to this point again this year. :D

Todays update...

Reconditioned Morse controls.

Removed the teak and sanded with 80 grit, 150 grit, 220 grit, then 320 grit.

The flat piece of teak on the right was milled at a local shop for a helm project that should go on later this week.

This was after only one coat of teak oil!
The last time I did this project I put a dozen coats on this wood, but I don't think that much will be needed this time as the wood already looks great. 8)

Leave it to Kevin to spend his retirement polishing his knobs.

making final payment on boat slip, anda light coating of snow on the way..............

Todays project involved re-installing the finished teak.
I also added a piece of teak across the package tray to keep my chart book, log book, and the clipboard with my trolling spread from hitting the floor when the Bay bumps up.

The new piece is a little darker than the factory teak, and a little thicker too, but I think it'll do the job. :)

Polished the 'windows' today.
Did a bunch of other waxing, but photos would be boring. :)

Snow in the forecast for tomorrow...
