I ran a 17' whaler for 10 years while studying the perfect boat to upgrade to. I have to be able to put in at a ramp that has 2 1/2' water at low tide at the deepest point with about 30' maneuver room. We go through two miles of creek then out through a sketchy inlet to the open Atlantic. After all that I still need to get between 25 an 50 miles out to get to fishing paradise. I usually have an assortment of kids and women on board and need the versatility of a covered but well ventilated cockpit, a birth below, and the ability to have three kids or so bottom fishing off the bow. The 2110 was clearly the perfect boat for my situation so I grabbed one. And before anyone comments... We always carry epirb, spot device, sat phone, as well as all vhf system and self inflating survival raft.
