Pulled out of my slip a little after noon today for my last run of the season.
It had been foggy earlier, but the creek was clear under overcast skies and low 50 degree temps.
By the time I made it into the Bay, it was obvious that this wasn't going to be a quick trip across to Matapeake.
Canvas full up, all windows open, main VHF on Channel 13 to monitor shipping traffic, and the handheld on Channel 16.
I could see breaks in the clouds above where the sun was trying to push through, but the fog was holding tight to the water.
Head on a swivel, listening for fog signals, looking for fishing boats (saw about a half dozen), and pushed forward at 7.5 kts.
As I got closer to the eastern shore, the sun started breaking through and the fog lifted enough to make it easily into the ramp at Matapeake where the BOE Marine transporter was waiting.
A little behind schedule, but no other issues.
The run went without a hitch.
And so another season comes to a close for me.
