Late report from Cat and SCI 8/3-8/4…

We left Dana Thursday afternoon at about 4:30 with a full scoop of Dines heading to Catalina for the night. It was a little rough crossing the channel; we didn’t make it to Avalon until about 7:00pm. The next morning we were up and on our way to SCI at about 3:30am, the water temp was about 73 deg. We fished the island until about 2pm with a constant Calico bite the largest being about 7 lbs. We also picked up some Yellows, lost one in the kelp and landed two. All in all it was a great day on the water.

Headed back to Cat for the night and anchored on the front side, made some fish tacos on the boat, had a few beers and crashed out. Next morning up again at 3:30 picked up some live squid and went to the V’s to try and get the White Seabass bite at gray light. No love with the ghost so we fished the kelp for a couple hours before heading back to Dana. Found a couple trash can size paddies on the way back with no one home.

It’s always nice to be on the water for a couple days. We had a great time with excellent weather and decent fishing.
