Thanks to all who responded to my question about gas in the hull of my 2520. I replaced the fill hose and vent hose, but to my disappointment, the hoses were not faulty. We then went to the fuel supply hoses to the outboards and they too were not faulty. When we attached the new hose to the fitting on the tank, the fitting broke off as I touched it! The fitting was almost rotted off!
The fitting was aluminum and the years had taken their toll. Glad to find the problem, wish I had started there first but am glad the other hoses are replaced. Everyone should check those fittings for integrity. I was kind of disappointed that aluminum fittings were used but that might be standard?
Wish the guys at Parker had given more room to replace and reattach the fill hose! That fitting on top of the tank was something else to get to!!

Aluminum fittings are the best choice. The tank itself is aluminum and if Parker were to use another type of fitting such as bronze, brass, stainless, etc. the two dissimilar metals would cause things to corrode faster in the presence of moisture.

The issue you saw sounds more like a lack of maintenance to me. All of your fittings and connection points are under removable deck plates. Those plates can and do leak if not maintained and that is what leads to problems. You should get in the habit of periodically (at least anually) popping them open, cleaning the grooves that the o-ring lie in (both in the pop-out portion and the flange), cleaning the sealing ring itself and lubricating the o-ring both before and after you put in back in place, then snapping the cover back on. You also have to make sure the flange is properly sealed to the deck itself. If not, a good seal on the cover won't matter and you could end up with deck rot to deal with.
