I made a bait well out of a 30 gal garbage can and fitted the intake to accomodate a hose connected to the raw water washdown pump.

Somebody, in one of these posts that I CANT FIND, suggested that the raw pump was not designed for that and suggested I add a different type of pump, T'd off the raw water intake.

I'd like to read that idea again. Does anyone remember seeing that post anywhere?

Here it is,,,wwwDONOTUSERAWWATERPUMPFORLIVEWELL.com :D

(It's not made to run hour after hour. Screw dual outlet livewell pump to thru-hull. One side to livewell and other side to raw water pump).

I agree with FishFactory ... use a dual-feed pump and put one port to the washdown and the outlet from the pump side to the livewell.

I just tried going to that site: www.DONOTUSERAWWATERPUMPFORLIVEWELL.com
I couldnt find it. ;)
So I have decided to go with the shurflo bait sentry 800 and will use the other port on the pump to feed my washdown pump. I have never been a 2N1 guy.
241 but not 2n1

I love a consensus..... I am going to go with that idea, and feed the exhaust (water) over the side instead of out the scuppers. I've seen that attempted before and it always seems to wash water onto the deck...

YEEHA! I'm getting psyched. Should be all done with the electronics today, gonna try and get that pump setup this weekend, had a good friend give me some good numbers and then ....

I'z goin' fishin!!!!

Well, got out on the water today.. hoping to find some of my old spots...

All excited about my new electronics and the FishFinder is going whack..

1) I'm in about 23 foot of water and the Furuno says I'm in 350 feet of water.

2) I running at about 25 mph and all of a sudden, no bottom, screen stops recording data.

Any of you guys own the Furuno 620 and can tell me if you have experienced this?

All likelihood it's the install. I triple checked the tranducer placement (transom mount), so I'm pretty confident it's not where I put the transducer but I'm open to observations and comments.

I don't want to knock Furuno fishfinders, but I had the predecessor of that unit on my last Parker, and I had the same symptoms. The transducer was installed properly, in the right place, and even a swap out and returning the unit to Furuno did not resove these problems.

I went with a different brand fishfinder on the new boat. It works just fine.

The typical reason a depth finder looses bottom or gives false readings is a crummy transom mount ducer. Your Furuno will work fine if you use a Tilted Element Airmar. Transom ducers don't work very good on deep V boats. Furuno's depth finders have won NMMA electronics awards for like 15 years straight.

I don't have the deep v. I have the modified v 2520 scxl.

Jim over at BOE marine told me that this particular transom mount transducer is what he sells with most of the 620's.

What are chances that with all the cables and wires converging in one place (the electrical box), that I am getting some sort of signal loss ?

I wonder if I ground the unit incorrectly. Any place in particular you guys ground your electronics. I just used a screw that was attached to the throttle body. Should I ground it somewhere else?

Don't understand your ground. Simply ground to the ground strip (bussbar, I think it's called) in the console. Get power from one of the extra switches or from the pos bussbar.

You should get good readings with a mod-v. Sometimes very dirty or aerorated (sp) water, like following a tugboat will confuse depthfinder.

Set unit to auto or default settings. Maybe you've accidentally entered some wrong settings.

ARRGHH... All my boating buddies trying to help getting more confused. One says, transducer mounted to close to trim tabs and if I'm using trim tabs, that may be causing the error. Another says ducer mounted too high, too low, too close to whatever.

Grouper Jim has graciously offered to come over and take a peek.

He suggested going out on his boat first so I can see what a properly rigged boat runs .

Nawww! Just kidding. I am looking forward to checking out his rig. Hopefully he will have some prop suggestions and ducer suggestions.
