I have a 2003 Parker 2520 MV with a Yamaha F225, transom mount. - experimenting with props, and looking for any advice or info. I bought the boat used, came with a 14.5x19 3 blade, looks like they are cupped pretty good. I get 5100 rpm and 31 knots wide open.

Wow, that is the wrong prop by a long shot.

Go back a few pages on the power section and your will see a few other reports with this same boat.

My option, the right prop for you is a 15pitch prop, 19pitch is way too big.

I would strongly recommend a 15pitch Mirage Plus

16" or 17" Enertia. Though smaller diameter than the mirage plus it has larger blade surface. It is also made of the lighter x7 alloy

Yes, you need a lower pitched prop. First find the maximum RPMs for that motor and then with standard gear and 1/2 a tank of fuel, you want to be no more than 200-300 RPMs off the max RPMs. Otherwise you will be lugging the motor when under a heavy load and that is the worst thing you can do for an engine.

Unfortunately, matching props to hulls is more art than science.

I'm about ready to buy my another prop or have my current one modified.

I currently run a Rev 4 with a 15 pitch but what would make it perfect is either a 16 or 17 inch pitch. I really like the REV 4 performance and hole shot but at my favorite cruising speed I'd like to bring my RPMS down 100 to 200.

When I went from a 17 inch pitch 3 blade Stilleto to a 4 blade prop conventional wisdom suggested dropping to a 15 pitch.... but I think the 17 would have been better.

Knowing what I know with my 2520XL and the performance with the REV 4 15 inch prop I would highly recommend the Rev 4 17 inch pitch for you MV hull.

Evn though all the 'books' state it, my '92 mod-V 2520 with 225hp 2-stroke OMS (6K max RPM) motor can't wear a 17" putched wheel ...

I tried a Renegade severely cupped 16" pitch 4-blade, but the blade design caued bow lift SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad I had to severely deploy the tabs.

Lessons learned ... prop selections is more black magic or expen$ive trial and error than science. I know Capt Kev went thru many props too.

Oh I did... but I think there may be other members here who tried even more props than I did!
I never did find the perfect prop for my boat, but I found one close enough that I'm satisfied (for now). :D

17p Mirage plus.

What chu talk 'in 'bout Kevin?

I dont have a parker but I tried

17 Black Max
19 Black Max
17 Mirage plus
17 Rev 4
15 Rev 4
17 Enertia

Enertia worked best overall for me and that is what I run today. Rev4 gave me the best dead flat water economy and top end but rough water economy was poor and I couldnt hold bite while "bogging". I also couldnt get above 5500 and I wanted to be between 5500 and 5700 for max engine life.

Merc props are the best. Try your luck at the portal here:

I just ordered a Rev 4 14 5/8 X 17, should be here by next weekend. I'm looking for good midrange MPG and good bite in turns. I have an extremely twisty creek on the way out to the bay and the stock yamaha three blade prop blows out in the turns like there's no tomorrow. I don't care about top end speed, I tend to keep the boat at about 4200 most of the time, I make a lot of runs out to the artificial reefs and I'm in no hurry especially with gas where it's at lately. I've heard a lot of good things about the rev 4 here so I figured I'd give it a shot.

Went out fishing with "The Otherline" today on his 2007 2520 MV (no bottom paint), f250 motor. Half a tank of gas, 1 cooler, and 4 poles. I trimmed it out and got 6k rpm@ 40 mph. He has the Rev 4 17p.

When you say a 2007 MV do you mean the hull iwith 16 degrees? I always think of the MV as the older hulls with 14 degrees. I thought they didn't make an MV in 2007? Just trying to keep my hulls straight.

Is this the prop that came with boat from the factory? Or did he change it out?

Thanks Jim

I have a 2007 2520 with a 250 and am getting about 2.5mpg at 4300-4500rpm's
I'm not broken in yet so I can't rev her up yet.
Don't know that much about prop science so I'm hesitant to change things out.
