So my boat didn't fair so well in Hurricane Sandy with water in the engines..was considering selling it just as a hull primarily with the motors as is...what do you think the value would be and would you think there is a market for it.

here is a link to the boat...the hull is in good shape and one motor is running but has corrosion inside the cowling http://www.thehulltruth.com/boats-sale- ... hpdis.html

i'm in the early stages of building a boat so i am wondering if a buy back from my insurance co and resale would be worth it to help with the build.....

Sorry to hear the bad news

Did the furuno depth sounder survive the storm? If so are you interested in selling that?

Ouch, sorry for your loss ...

Hate to say it, but IMHO a hull without motors is wrth half of what it would be worth "if" the hull was usable with motors ...

miky- yes it did and was still working...the gain doesn't adjust but it worked fine all last season...as far as selling it i would offer it up with the sale of the hull first...if not i would gladly part ways with it quiet cheaply or possibly free..
dale- i know it has lost most of its value.. i am just wondering say they offer it up for 2-4 grand is it worth 5-10 grand...and then i would have another grand in winter storage fees if its worth it..

it's been a great hull and is in great shape..it was well rigged and i had done a bunch of stuff to prepare for the sale as well..if someone wanted to repower it could be a great starting point..the boat was not fully submerged...it had floated off the blocks and settled down close by...the bow had gotten hung up on another boats anchor and sat stern down thus getting water in the motors which were not fully submerged..you can see corrosion up to the first plug...it has been back in the water and one motor isn't running and one ran fine and got the boat up on plane...the electronics worked as well other than the radar which was giving a code for an improper connection(?) .

guys thanks for the condolences... i took this boat over from my father and enjoyed the years that i had it... i was putting it up for sale to fund a 28 foot boat i'm building so i will welcome the insurance pay out but by no means how i wanted to see her go...

In the Florida market I could see the hull selling for $6k. This is only my opinion so take it for whats its worth.

If you can get it for 2-4K I would buy it in a heart beat. You could make even more money if you sold everything seperate. T-top, electronics, Sell the bad engine as a parts engine, etc. It takes more time but time=money if your willing.

my .02 cents

i would believe that hull rigged as it was in the pictures from last june would be worth 10k all day long as long as the transom wasn't hurt during the storm. i don't think the engines w/1200 hrs on them are worth more than 6-8k. so the hull has to be worth 10 in it's present condition if it's cleaned up.

returned all pm's...the hull faired well...there were 2 nicks in the bottom which were repaired a week later before being put back in the water..i had hoped she had gotten some water in the cowling area but was still running but the one engine stalled shorty after running where as the other was still working ...the boat shows well...the transom bracket has paint chipping off which is common with the armstrong brackets over time... i had regelcoated the deck a couple months before and had reupholstered and had done new plastic on the enclosure...as far as parting it out it is not something i'm interested in the least at this point.. between working full time a wife 2 dogs and building a boat my life is more than full right now...though it is well equipped.. the only thing that i felt was missing was rocket launchers on the t top and another set of gunnel rod holders...thanks for the interest and i'll keep you posted when i hear back from my ins co...dave
