Today was a productive day, and the bonus was it was sunny and warm with a light breeze.
Began my day by finishing the lower trunk cabin, on the Starboard side.
Buff Magic, Polish, wool pads, and the Makita 9227c
You have *got* to be careful on this part of the boat with the Makita.
That thing is uber powerful, and you cannot let the pad grab because it will take your wrist with it.
You also need to make sure the cord is protected and out of the way or it will get wrapped around the shaft.
Ask me how I know this...
That part of the boat is narrow and it's many feet off the ground, so be careful!
Once the lower trunk cabin was complete, I started on the upper cabin above the trunk.
This includes all of the windows, window frames, the underside of the roof overhangs, as well as the sail panels aft of the side windows.
Lots of fine detail work, all done by hand, using the Starbrite with PTEF product.
Once the upper and lower cabin areas were done, I broke out a product that I bought in the BOE Marine ships store several years ago.
The product is called "Leverage polish and cleaner with UV protectant with polymers".

I tried it when I first bought it and while it was OK, it wasn't something that knocked my socks off.
This year, I figured I would experiment with it, since it was still sitting on my shelf.
I used it first on the hull which had been done with Buff Magic, Polish, and a top coat of the Starbrite product.
The Leverage product is light blue, mildly opaque, and about as thin as water.
I'd had this stuff for so long the pump sprayer wouldn't work, so I uncapped the bottle and poured some on a small terrycloth remnant.
Then I just wiped down the hull.
The product label says to let the product dry to a haze (which I could barely see), and then buff it gently with a soft cloth.
Dang!
The hull was so slick that if a fly tried to land on it, he'd break a leg.
Next, I used the product on the upper and lower trunk cabin.
Remember that the lower was done with Buff Magic and polished by machine.
The upper area was done by hand with the Starbrite with PTEF product.
Same application method.
Pour some Leverage on a terrycloth pad, wipe all the surfaces, then come back with a polish cloth.
The real shocker was seeing those 18 year old black Wynn window frames shine.
I'm going to have to keep an eye on these areas to see how long this product lasts, but my first impression was positive (especially the window frames).
Tomorrows forecast is for a cloudy day and windy, but temps in the mid 60's, so it might be a good day to clean the v-berth and re-install the teak.
Tuesday looks to be a washout. Thunderstorms and rain.
Only two photos to show today.
The first is the underside of the roof overhang, which gets really funky dirty with specks of mold. Yuck.
Clean now tho.
The second is just a general shot with the hull and cabin done.
Photo taken late in the day so it doesn't really show how the fiberglass pops in the sunlight.
