Well guys what else could it be if the hub is not spun? I was told by the prop guy in Bayville that the prop was fine. I had two mechanics just look at it and thought it was spun but they didn't test it. The motor only has 480 hrs. on it. Just a review of what happened, I went out fishing and was doing 30 mph at 4000 rpms. on the way in I would push the trottle half way down and the motor would rev up and slowly start moving. At 4000 rpms the boat would reach 18 mph. No noise in the lowerr unit. Again thanks for your help.

Yes, you have a spun hub. I've had the exact same thing happen. It will only get worse. Have it fixed or grab another prop.

You ought to bet your mechanic the price of a prop repair !

I had the same thing happen to me 3 weeks ago . in rough seas .. I have twin 115s on 2520 with 300hrs and one engin would rev up anything over 4000 rpms. took it to the prop shop and they told me they don't think it spun but i rehubed it anyway .65.00. the next week offshore again and no problem.. Only now the other motor seems to do it slightly only 200 rpms here and there..

Did you do the dot thing??

I stick with the spun hub. Borrow a prop even if its not the same pitch just to see.

FYI Your mechanic wants to bill you for time to find the problem.

Mark the prop/hub/spines as so. The marks won't be lined up after the hub slips.
