Tried the search function but didn't come up with an answer. Has anyone replaced the control cables on an 18'CC and would know the required length offhand? The current cables in my 1700 seem to be extremely long for the application, and form an approximately 2' diameter "loop" inside the console. Is this extra length needed in the system for any reason I'm not thinking of? If not, I'd like to replace the cables with new, shorter ones so as to eliminate the loop and save some space. Recommendations for the brand/type of cable are also welcome (Teleflex Xtreme? Uflex MachZero?). I'm assuming that nobody has the data for a 17' on hand, but I was thinking I could make a pretty good guess off the length of an 18' cable.

Mine are long too on 94 2330 and last year, replaced ram , Mach Zero 26 ft throttle cables and 26 ft 1500 psi steering hoses , all from Uflex. Massive Silver Steer ram, too. I bought from go2marine. I emailed them about their web prices were correct. Prices were comparable to other sites but the email reply from them lowered price on the high-end ram as 80 bucks less! It pays contact them by email or phone to price check.

The last two numbers on your existing cables should be the length. Look for numbers near each end.
