For me it was my first SKUNK in a long time. I wanted to do something different to avoid fighting the crowds so we started chumming at Hacketts outside of Annapolis in 37' of water. (chumming isnt very common this time of year as the fish are spawning and not schooled up)The water was horrible and boats kept running by us from Sandy Point like bees leaving a hive. After waiting for the tide to change and only having debris on the line, I decided to run south in hopes of finding an area outside the west river or so in 35-45' of water but there were way too many boats to attempt to anchor in the crowd. I would have been shot. I looked across the bay and couldn't imaging trying to run to the hill with all the trollers out there so we made the call to put out the trolling gear. We trolled from mid day until around 4pm from 83 north to metapeake. We came home with our tail between our legs. We only saw one fish come over the side of a boat. I did speak to Bill Judge via cell phone and I know he had two fish. However we, the blind squirls, didn't find even one nut. Heck I even cought one fish in 30 minutes of trolling on Friday night. Tough day for us. I am hoping for a trip next Friday to forget about this skunk....

My opinion... the full moon messed up your chances because the fish fed all night and weren't interested in what you had for them, but what do I know...
Don't feel too bad. I don't think too many other folks did much better.

My neighbor trolled for 8 hours and had one 33" fish to show for it.
He didn't even bother taking it to the Boatyard Bar and Grill weigh-in station.

I was out on Saturday and Sunday, skunked both days. Trolling north of the bay bridge. I didn't feel as bad as I might of cause I saw only one guy hooked up on Saturday and on Sunday I was behind a charter boat for an hour and even with his 40 million rods and planer boards I didn't see him hooking up. I am going to try again Saturday I think. I saw another Parker out there but wasn't close enough to read the name. I have 2120 named Kelly Jean if you see me out there hit me up on 68 I am usually listening.

Go South young man !!!
Sat - 32,34,and 37", Sunday two 36" and back to dock by 1100.
All near red 82.

I was out Sunday, below the BB trolled down to just below 88. We caught two around 32". I did see a 2120 below the bridge.

Saturday was a skunk for me too, had two fish on and lost them both and we fished from 6:30 to 4pm. My brother did catch two on Saturday, one was 37". I saw two fish caught all day.

S L O W is an understatement.

I will be back out Fri., Sat and Sunday, hope things pick up. Might even squeek out 1/2 day Wed.

Funny thing is that I had a great preseason. I also took the family trolling for 30 minutes friday evening and the wife got a 32"er

I am supposed to fish today out of Solomons on a charter but I may have to cancel due to work. I will be out Friday with a client on my boat.

I want that 44"+ from Good Friday back  8)

B-Faithful don’t feel bad allot of people had a hard time getting fish Sat. Like Megabyte said the full moon, clear skies overnight and then major pressure was a bad combination. Maxout fished between 74 and 72 and managed to get a 41", 38", & 36" but they all came right at sun up. I only had 3 people on board so we fished until 11:00 and called it. Lots of jelly crap getting on the rigs and got tired of reeling in 16 lines and re-checking them (not to mention the big head from the Tiki opening the night before). Several of my friends fished south of Point No Point and did a little better in the shallows. Most I spoke with caught there fish early and then waited all day for the tide to come back. Overall it was a slow opening day and many boats didn’t even see a Rockfish. Based on my previous year logs the best fishing is still to come so get out as much as possible in the next couple weeks  I am fishing Friday out of Solomon’s and will post...Trying to beat the Sat rush.

Solomions is where it is at!!!!! I fished tuesday afternoon on the Never E Nuff and we had like 15 fish in 3 hours. Smallest was 32 largest was a hair over 40". The guy trolled like 18 umbrella rigs  I think only one or two fish came deep. I will try to post some photos when my coworker emails me them as I am having camera problems again.

I hope to fish tomorrow morning for a 3 hour trip here in Annapolis (leave sandy pt at 8 -back by 11). I will try to get a north bay report tomorrow night.

I am fishing MSSA for the first time next weekend and have possible plans of PLO or Solomons launch. I am not a planer board puller so I will just be sporting my typical 8 line spread. No Plans of chumming after my Opening day experience.

3-6man limits in the Tolley's region on the 22,24,25 &26th. Some shorter than an houor others Sat took 6 hours for 5 keepers. Tide? Great to be out after the long lull after duck season!

 what can I say? The stripers like the Opti running while trolling and not turned off chumming 8)

Opening day was my only skunk. At this point, I am just looking to keep the train rolling! Most trips have yeilded a fish or two over 40". We just need that 45"+ tomorrow 8)
