2 Questions,
1,
I was told by a firend if I install wider trim tabs, my boat will handle in the rough water 100% better, true or false ? I do not know !
2,
How would I install wider tabs, my tabs are recessed into the bottom of the boat, my Parker is a 2006, 2520XL, and can i use the same piston that is on the boat and just move over a few inches to work with a wider tab, or do i have to buy everything and start over ! I have no idea if it is worth it or not, our boat is pretty sweet and rides rough in crappy weather, but all in all we are happy, but if it would not pound as much in rough seas, I would upgrade !

Did a search and got all the info, now, what tabs do I want length, I have two motors, so do I go 18 or 24 or ? Thanks for the time !

One more not sure question, the 18 will put it about where I think it should be, the 24 will be about 1 to 2 inches away from the center of each motor, and from Grouper Jims pictures, that may not be a good idea, so I have no idea , 18 or 24 blades, that are not to $ at River Marine Supply ! I checked BOE and a few other places ! Any advise ?

Let me see a pic of the back of your boat so I can give you better advice. Also take a close up of your existing tabs.

Hi, here you go ! Also, ( I have no idea, so that is why all the questions ) do i want 9 inch or 12 inch wide ?

Hi Jim,
If I go from the edge where the zinc is ( parker put those there) and down 18 it seems ok, down 24 inches, it is almost aligned with the center of the motor !

I have ridden on the "Otherline's" 2520 with those tabs and they are pretty good tabs. The down fins give them 30 percent more lift than a comparable tab without the down fin.

If I were you, I would not change out those tabs. Instead I would install a couple of Permatrims on those heavy 4 strokes. It will make all the difference in the world. Your rear end won't feel heavy anymore, the bow will stay down, and the great tabs you currently have will be even more responsive.

Permatrims are easy/quicker to install relative to new tabs and much less expensive. If for some reason you are not thrilled with them (you will be) then add some bigger tabs too. The Permatrims can be removed and holes filled if you so desire. But, I'm a 100 percent sure that they will work out for you. The only place you can get them, is from Andy at SIM.

Let me check them out and see what they are, and I will call Andy on Monday, he has helped me out a few times in the past, thanks for your input !
Do you think the zink on the bottom of the tab has any effect on their performance ?

Bigger tabs will make a huge difference.

Here is a thread where I posted some pictures and info about the Bennett's I installed... I went all the way with 30 X 9's.

In dealing with the recess I thought of leaving it.... but opted for manufacturing inserts from starboard and screwing and gluing them in.

It was a big project yes, but well worth it.

Here is excerpt from a post in another forum from a guy with a boat like yours...............

Some weeks ago I posted a thread about our Parker 25 riding very bow high with 4 strokes and having checked everything as suggested by many helpful posts without any benefit, finally we decided to try 'Grouperjim's' suggestion of Permatrims. The result was right on the money, problem solved. So good has the result been that we have ordered another for a 21ft Parker with a similar problem. So thank you all, especially Grouperjim- How long would it take to resolve such an issue without the awesome knowledge and experience on xxx?

I remember watching your thread, cool, but I have two motors, so I can not go big, not sure yet !

Richard is probably correct, however, I've been on Grouper Jim's boat and that Permatrim seems to make a significant difference. If you don't mind drilling holes into your cav plates, then I think Jim's advice is on the money. Easier, less expensive and less complicated (with twins), to install.

If you do install them, make sure you let us know what you think.

If you can do it, I'd put the zinc on the top to give you cleaner water over the tab.

Well I ordered the Permatrims, I researched all dayand did as much reading as I could, I will chat with Andy Monday morning before he ships, but I have alot of trust in some of the guys from that other web site as i have done alot of bizz with them over the years, and never have I had any inclining of a bad experience, and when things do go awary, they fix it as fast as they can being very far away, so once I get then, i will take some pics and let all know they outcome ! But they seem nice ! And megabite, I already made the change !
