Warranty question

Hi lady's and gents
We just bought new 2501 and REALLY want to set her up, My dealership was telling me that if I was
to install rod holders on the boat my self that there might be warranty issues in the future if anything
was to go wrong.????? I'm a plumber and very mechanically inclined. I just want to make sure before
I decide to do anything.. If any of you guys have any info,..... Please help.

Print out a copy of the warranty, and ask him to highlight any sections that might be in jeopardy, if you do the work.

EXACTLY! I've went behind many dealer installed stuff and fixed their **** work!

Furthermore.....Rod Holders in a Hull have nothing to do with warranty on a engine......That's where you will need any warranty work done.

There is a ton of info and posts on this subject. Use backer plates if you can and seal the edges of the hole with epoxy.

Your dealer is full of crap and doesn't have a clue what he/ she/ it is talking about regarding this topic. I would look for another dealer if yours is so ignorant.

If you cut holes in the gunwale and water subsequently enters there and damages your hull, then the warranty could be void on that damage. Same thing if you drill into the deck for any reason.

100% agreed. I try to minimize how much a dealership actually touches my boat.
