Does any one know how Webbers Cove 26 Down east boat ride? I'm thinking of purchasing one, bare hull twin outboard configuration for sale for $3900 with roller trailer. Looks like a great project down east boat a lot heavier than my 1987 sports cabin.

Ride will be dependent on the deadrise and chine.

If a true traditional design modified for OB power I'd be leery of putting TOO MUCH horsepower on them, as remember downeast hulls are "sea hulls" and not necessarily "go fast" hulls. A true DE hull of square chine, like the Albin TE 28s, is/was rated the #1 Rated Best Riding Hull ever as tested by Powerboat Reports. It was only a 20-knot hull, but did so and tracked well even in both significant head and following seas!

A round chine hull would most likely be similar to the old Seaway 26 hull, which I bet might be the source for the molds for this ... as they're (mold) still out there somewhere. Round-chined hulls tend to roll a bit and lean to a following sea, but take the head sea better.

If I wasn't up for yet another project ... I'd hunt you or that hull down and would BUY IT pronto!

1993 Webbers Cove was chartered in Harpswell Maine by previous owner who landed one 173 lbs dressed bluefin tuna in fifteen years . My plan is price full cabin. This boat still in production designed by Spencer Lincoln and to repower with single four stroke or two stroke DFI on bracket. Previous owner says that this boat is very light at stern.

Buy it and throw a new Suzuki DF250 on it. Suzis turn a big 16" wheel and the single 250 would be bet for that hull IMHO.

Buy it please ... before I do ...

Officially my new project down east boat.

Dale, excellent idea single 250 HP Suzuki four stroke on bracket and enclose transom properly. Previous owner said this boat loves to cruise 15 to 18 knots.

Can't wait until spring when I start this project boat. A lot of planning to do and one thing at a time.

Congratulations!

I've a bunch of 'L'-shaped stainless steel rails and other parts/accessories you might want/need for outfitting an old, new to you, boat.

Free to boot. So I'll put them together and send or post a picture sometime.

I'm insanely or 'wicked' jealous ... !

Okay this is killing me..... I looked at that boat several times and was amazed as the price kept going down. Congrats on what sure to be an awesome boat.
