I can attest to the value of twins. Last trip to the CBBT WX was in the 30s and 40s and water temp was right at 50. Waves were a good 3' Managed to suck a sinking fly line into a prop while near the bridge. Couldn't get the line off from the motor bracket...too dangerous to lean that far over in the chop and cold.
So...we motored back to Little Creek NAB on one engine, backed her up to the ramp, and with hip waders on, I waded in and removed the line. The second engine saved the day and an expensive tow.
Downside is that come service and winterization time, they cost you double.
