I want to add a second sonar (just because I have it and it is better than the one currently on the boat). I was wondering where people have mounted the transducer. I would prefer an inside the hull mount if possible. Also, any experience with dual transducers would be appreciated.

Thanks
Steve

Some questions that might get you more replies...

How deep are you fishing, and how much detail are you trying to see?
What is the power (in watts) of your fishfinder?
What is the frequency of your primary FF and what is the frequency of your secondary?
What type of transducer is on your primary, and where is it located?
If your secondary is better than your primary, why not just swap out one for the other?

Hopefully that will get you into the place where you want to be.

I have two transom mounted triducers. A60 and A65 units. One each sdie of engine, one set at 50kz and one at 200kz, works well. Added confidence in skinny waters. I have two screens and have a fish'n nuts dream of seeing a fish on one screen and not on the other to know where the cast to. :p also great benefit to troll the edge of a channel or ledge. I can actually get a few feet different read between the two.

I have two airmar inhull ( shoot through the hull ) transducers for a Navman digital depth finder and one for a colored fish finder. Both are on at the same time and I never have had a problem with readings at any speed including wide open. I got rid of the transome mounted transducer because of eratic signals at various speeds. Make sure the machines are at different frequencies and the transducers match them.

I have the 2120SC and located both transducers in line on the starboard side with one about about 10 inches from the stern and the other immediately in front of it. Both are on the slope of the deep V . Do not locate them on the flat platform that the bilge pump is on as there is a hollow space under the platform and you woun't get a signal through air. The transducers have an adjustable mounting ring that can accomodate the V. Use RV antifreeze in the transducer housing.

I had to remove about 3 inches of the thin fiberglass shelf to fit the second transducer...no big deal as the shelf is only about 1/8 inch of fiberglass and serves no purpose that I could see.
Good luck. Let me know if you need exact measurements.

Ray
