VST Filter... Am I the only one having trouble???

This is the parts diagram for my 1999 SX200TXRX. The small filter is part #13. It is accessed by removing the two bolts (#16) from the pressure regulator (#18) on the backside of the top of the VST tank assembly. FYI, parts diagrams for all Yamaha motors are here...

WTB Small Grab Rail For Center Console

Good question.. As they say in the ad, the grab rail is threaded for a standard bolt pattern. I drilled a pilot hole in the console where I wanted to mount one of the bolts to see how thick the fiberglass was. Then brought the rail to the hardware store to find a bolt that could accommodate...

WTB Small Grab Rail For Center Console

Here is one option: http://www.marinesurplusinc.com/servlet ... rab/Detail I have two slightly larger versions on my 21 DV. One is mounted on the angled front of the console on the starboard side (steering wheel is in same spot on port side) and is great for passengers to hold on to when...

VST Filter... Am I the only one having trouble???

Good info Capt. Brian. I forgot about that last dime-sized filter, its the pressure regulator filter if anyone is looking for it. I believe it is mounted in the top of the VST tank where the return line comes in from the fuel rail. Easy to get to and clean once you know where it is, its...

VST Filter... Am I the only one having trouble???

One thing to remember is that the VST filter is just a filter.. it is not the source of the problem, just a symptom. If it is getting clogged, then something isn't right in your fuel system. Either you have some bad gasoline, your fuel tank is dirty, your fuel lines are deteriorating, etc...

VST Filter... Am I the only one having trouble???

Why are you replacing the filters and not just cleaning them? I just use a can of spray carb cleaner with the little hose attached and blast it into the top of the filter, then spin the base to clean each section of the 'pie'. Are they all gunked up when you open them up? Fine gray powder or...

    Electrical Problem

Dave, One thing I noticed when I replaced the switches on my panel a few years ago, is that there is a short jumper that connects one switch to the other (I can't remember if its power or ground) so it might be worth a quick check to make sure one of these wires didn't get disconnected in the...

    CP is back on-line!

Looks like Google has re-reviewed the site and removed all the warnings and such. We should be back to "normal" at this point. -- Tom

    CP is back on-line!

Guys, thanks for your patience. I'm working the Google thing in the background - will hopefully be back soon for Firefox users. In the mean time you can use Internet Explorer if that is an option. -- Tom

21 CC versus 21 SE. Few basic questions. Buying 1st boat.

Unless the 5" extra draft is a deal-breaker for you on some of the flats you fish, go with the DV. IMHO for a 60/40 split of inshore/offshore fishing: 23DV > 21DV > 23SE > 21SE > 18 But ALL are great boats :) -- Tom

    2 micron filter question?

Go to the SIM forum on thehulltruth.com and look for messages on the 2 micron filters, there are a few different people who have tried this and posted pictures. The one that I thought looked good was a gauge that was directly connected onto an unused port on the Racor head. -- Tom

    2 micron filter question?

I have been changing the 2 micron filter at the beginning of the season and as part of my 100 hr maintenance. I have not installed a vacuum gauge, so I don't know if that is overkill or not. I figure the $35 I save by not having to purchase a VST gasket offsets the cost of the filter change...
