    HELP..... gas in bilge

Splashed yesterday for the first time, ran fine but found a small but pungent amount of gas in the bilge. I cranked the jack way up in the driveway, pulled the plug and opened up all of the hatches for the night. The leak has appeared to stop. Here is my thinking and what I need cross checking...

    Rear hatches on 1801

Are they holding a lot of water? There are two drain holes on each one which should keep them drained if the ports are clear.

    Parker 1801 Sonar question

No pics handy but the tarp is being pulled off this week so I'll snap a few. The ducer is about the size of a can of Progresso Soup but half as tall.

    Parker 1801 Sonar question

I love the shoot through Airmar on my 1800. Easy install and one less hole to worry about.[/b]

    Doghouse for an 1800?

More like this Dale, though maybe a bit smaller on the top.

    Doghouse for an 1800?

Does anyone have any pics of a good looking dog/pilothouse on a small CC? Neither the Pacific Pilothouse or the Maritime Skiff do it for me and wouldn't go with the lines on a Parker. Has anyone seen a doghouse on a Parker CC? Many thanks :D

Time for a new trailer ?

Sounds like I need to step back and have someone who knows more than I take a look at my situation. I bet that I could figure out replacing the hardware (done springs... twice (don't ask)) but the logistics of removing a boat, ripping things apart and then getting the new stuf to fit correctly...

Time for a new trailer ?

Thanks Fish Factory :) I've got bunks now and will stick with them for the next trailer. From what I hear they support the hull better and hopefully the torsion axle will drop me down another few inches so that the shallow ramps are not as much of an issue. This will be a heavy use (though you...

Time for a new trailer ?

I don't know for sure but I think the Calkins trailer that came with my 98 1800 is original. I have worn through a keel roller and in examining the other rollers, I noticed that the hardware holding the bunks and rollers up is in sorry shape. Questions.... Should I switch from galvi to...

Trailer Lights - fun with PVC

Not quite according to my friend who is a Trooper :( The plate light is not strong enough to light the plate where I want to on outside of the board on the standoff. I moved it up under the light on the PVC and this is just looking to scratch up my hull. (sorry, no pics) Here is what I want to...

Trailer Lights - fun with PVC

Sick of dealing with bad grounds and such, I decided to elevate my trailer lights on PCV posts and run a dedicated ground line to each. The PVC was hammered down the guide-on posts and the bolted with existing hardware.

Ideas For What To See And Do In New England

First off, this sounds like a great trip. Will you be staying on the boat or looking for rooms close to the water along the way? If you have the time and do not mind a "slight detour", I would suggest thinking about running around Cape Cod instead of going through the Cape Cod Canal. reason...

Thanks Dale. The washer idea is a great one :)

    Zinc Question

I noticed that the zinc on my lower unit was a little loose. I gave the bolt a bump with a socket wrench and it's still rattles a little. It looks intact but I am new to this type of thing. When do you know it's time to replace your zinc?

    I just got a Parker 1800......

More boat in a smaller hull has never been made. Mine has saved my bacon more than once. Watch charging stern quarter seas over 3' but other than that they can take most anything that you would want to be out in. Congrats :)

RayMarine or Furuno? Which do you prefer?

I'm running a Raymarine C80 with DSM Airmar P79 ducer and speed/temp sensor. I am very happy. If you bottom fish I would compare areas you know on any unit you looking at. Charts can be good, bad or just wrong. Also, why get a thruhull if a shoot through works? No holes and I can mark fish at...

NFB Steering Upgrade for Dummies ???

Can someone give me an overview of what is involved with upgrading direct cable steering on an 1800 to a no feedback system? Is this something that I can do solo? What would I need for tools? Many thanks :) Sam
