Bought the scotty and it was cheaply, everything else is way overpriced. Went to Costco business center and picked up a 18x20 cutting board for about $7, ripped 3" from the back, 1.5" from each side, routed out some notches and holes. Design and 3d printed a scotty mount and 5 bucks worth of screws later this is what I have.

Way to go! About 3 months ago, I was running from the inlet to our 1st Cobia spot, and hit a wave, BUMP, my MAGMA bait station bounced out of a rod holder and guess what? They don't float.
I paid $130 for a new one shipped to me. You saved a bunch of money there.
 
if you're using the tube type rod holder I can see how it'll bounce off. i was debating on using an aluminum tube with a plate or this approach but I find these are more configuration, i can just move them anywhere on the rail. These also have a locking tab so they wouldn't be able to fly off, the board would have to rip apart out of the 3" bolt before it'll go anywhere.
