on a 21se repower does anyone have experience going from a 150 yam 4 stroke to a 200 yam 4 stroke 4 cylinder/considering a repower and if there are suzuki upgrades out there please chime in

Suzuki has a 175 and a 200... Both are inline 4 cylinder engines. I believe you would have a smile from ear to ear with a DF 200 Suzzy. :)

I have a 21SE with a 200 Suzuki on it. Don't think twice about it.....slap her on there!

I'd also recommend installing the Suzuki Multi-Function Gauge when doing so.

I would also recommend hydraulic steering if you do not have that on already.

I believe you have to have hydronic for that motor. At least, thats what my mechanic told me when they were installing the motor.
They replaced my mechanical steering as part of the install - and I trust them 100%.

Does the Suzuki require 89 like the Yamaha? I remember seeing some 200 Suzuki owners manual calling for 91! Might have been an overseas version. Can someone with a 200 Suzuki peer check this? 91 would add to the fuel cost considerably. But their post on the Bookface says 87.

I use 87. My dealer said using a higher octane is unnecessary.

No it's not like the Yamaha.... You can use 87....... I do not use 87 and here is why.

How long will your boat sit? Answer: You do not know...Especially this time of year. You also never know when something will happen to prevent the boats use.

Engine requires a min of 87...... BUT.... in 30days that number will drop below that.

I run 91 or 93 Non Ethanol with
STAR BRITE
Star Tron® Gasoline Additive in it.

Say what you will.. How many Hundreds of dollars will it cost in the shop to ungum injectors and clean the tank?

When you look at it that way.... The extra cost of GOOD fuel is a bargain. It' what goes in my mowers also.

I am curious where you get 91 or 93 non-ethanol in Florida Over here (Jax) highest I have seen is 89 non ethanol. I have been going there for years for the same reason. Using Yamalube also

Does using Valve-Tect gasoline negate the needed for Star Tron? Are the additives in Valve-Tect similar? the same? as Star Tron...

I cannot find non-ethanol gas anywhere in NJ and the state is home for many boats. I found a non- ethanol directory on line and it stated zero places offer non-ethanol. Does anyone in NJ have any leads to find this "preferred" fuel? I use 89 octane in my Yamaha 200 online with zero issues over 4 seasons.

I don't use it.... I've seen it.... I bet it's a wash in comparison to what I use...... BUT! I've ONLY seen it at marina's and thus the price is WAY up there compared to what I use.... As of this post I pay $3.53gal for 91 Non ethanol. Not @ a marina.
Three of our local marina's that sell fuel have ValveTect, and it is usually at least a dollar per gallon more than what we see at the shoreside pumps. Since I only trailer the boat for hurricane haul-outs, I get my gas at marinas. When I first got the boat I bought some ValveTect shoreside and and lugged it in 5-gallons cans. With a 200 gallon fuel tank, I quickly learned it was not worth that effort for me. ..... Early this year I was paying $5.20/gallon. Now it's around $4.60 for 89 non-ethyl ValveTect. I no longer use the other additives (Ringfree, etc) as I was told they were not needed when using ValveTect fuel. From what I'm told, the local fuel supplier (Clark Oil) just mixes in the 'additives' to the gasoline; and someone? supposedly inspects the marina's fuel storage tanks, lines and pumps annually to assure that the gas is clean. So far I've never gotten bad fuel, and never have had dirt, nor water/moisture in the fuel filters....

I use 87 non-ethanol and 1 oz to 10 gallons gas of Ring Free every fill-up. No problems yet.
