I am currently running the Suzuki 3X16X18.5 light I can spin it to 6300. Anyone try a 20P? Looking for some real world thoughts before buying a new prop - Thanks!!
 
Load up boat, get on plane, anti vent plate needs to be skimming water level.
Adjust motor height as needed
Prop to max rpm not range ex 6000 rpm
Check with Ken at Prop Gods for prop options
You might need a 4 blade

Thanks Brent - all the above are good advice and I have done all of it. Motor sits up a couple holes and I can spin the 18.5P to 6300 just wondering if I can spin the 20p and get 6000.
 
Whenever you get a chance can you get some performance numbers with the 300? My plan is to go with the same. Thanks!
 
I am running a 3x16x18.5 and get great performance and fuel economy. Plenty of top end. The limiting factor is always sea conditions. In a following sea I have never felt under powered or unable to get it to move
 
After you get it repowered would you check back with us and let's us know how you like the Suzuki 300 on the 23 Deep Vee and what prop you got. I have that identical boat and thinking about repower with that exact engine.
 
A little late to the party but yesterday we did initial Sea Trials on our same boat (2003 2300 CCDV). We had a 2002 225 Yamaha 4 stroke (likely 205HP).

This new engine is a 2023 DF300AP - 300 PS (295 HP). We had seen others on this forum with the same prop so we used it as well - 3 x 16 x 18.5 Suzuki. Only one brief run-up in throttle witnessed 5900 RPM. This was less than 2 hours on the motor, so should improve perhaps 100 RPM after break-in. Our boat had about 80 gal of fuel, 3 men and the usual complement of gear. We have a T-Top on the boat, and the water tank likely had 20 gal. in it.

We were very pleased the performance. This motor specifies a range of top RPM as 5700 - 6300. I rarely operate full throttle so am mostly concerned about cruising speed and economy. Considering I went from 40 mph on the Yamaha with the same load to 48.5 mph same load I'm very pleased with the power. We were seeing 3.5 mpg from 25 mph to 27mph, 3.3 mpg. at 33 mph. All this is with 1.5 hrs on the new motor -
according to the dealer (Nick's Creative Marine - perhaps largest dealer in the SE other than manufacturers), it should improve a little after break-in.

I got my 300 mounted yesterday and actually reading the manual now on my 2022 DF 300APXX. How did you hit 5900 rpm with less than 2 hours on engine when you're not supposed to run that hard till you finished the first 4 hours? The mounted a 3x16x18.5 on my 2520xld. Can't wait to start the break in period

What are your numbers with the 3x16x18.5? Just got my boat Parker 2520 MV with motor mounted on a swim platform and I saw they had a 3x16x17.5 prop on it. I have not been able to take boat out yet but I see everybody talking about the 3x16x17.

The 3x16x18 only got me 5200 max. They switched me out at 20 hour service to the 3x16x17 and it seems to be the best option so far. I hit 5900 rpm and getting 2.1 mpg which is a marked improvement from my 300 yami

I‘m very similar #s with 2019 Suzuki DF300APXX 3x16x17 on Parker 2520SL (transom mount).

Sorry for the delayed response... Note I stated 'brief'. That is more a validation of proper prop pitch. The break-in procedure was followed more or less to the letter. Nick has powered many a boat. Buzzing up for a few seconds will not have any lasting harm.

You can figure from 18.5 to 20 a 200 to 300 RPM drop.

I would stick with the Suzuki prop.... 3-16-20
