I installed the angled fairing block about 5 years ago and it is solid. The hole through the hull is the same or similar size as a flush mount. Love it! Only lose bottom when hard in reverse.

Any particular reason you mounted it on the angled starboard side rather than the flat section in the center?

FWIW in a single engine application. anything significant protruding from the flat pad in the center can cause the prop to ventilate.

Good to know. Would it be OK to install a flush mounted thru-hull transducer in the center instead of one with the fairing block?

I have not installed an Airmar low profile thru-hull yet on the flat pad. So, I can't give you any first hand input on it's performance there.

If I had to guess, with the engine on a bracket which sets it back aways from the pad, I "think" it would work. Maybe someone here has done it and can give you their thoughts.
