My new 2100CC is in the rigging shop:

I was there when the rigging guy drilled through the bottom for the transducer...now that was a scary moment, at least for me!

I'm a bit frustrated with my transom mounted ducer. keeps loosing bottom in the least bit of chop. I'm seriously thinking of going with a shoot-thru or a thru-hull.

Airmar "Tilted Element" Transducer.
Call Jim at BOE Marine. He will hook you up.

hakr, is Tri-State Marine doing the install?

Raymarine now offers that "tilted" AirMar transducer for the unit I have, so that was what was installed.

Ditto on Jim at BOE. Got the Garmin and ICOM from his store. The Raymarine unit I took as my "rebate" from Yamaha.

By the way, I saw the bimini up for the first time today.

It's huge and just what I wanted. I'm 6'3" and there's plenty of headroom, too.

Yes.

Porkchunker:

Best way is to call AirMar. Very solid tech support. The tilted transducer was not listed for my Ray fishfinder, but the AirMar guy knew right away that it had just been introduced, and he gave me the model number.

Do the local dealers install the bilge pumps etc? For example a local dealer near me as a single 1100 pump in the bilge, and I see yours has 2 more powerful ones.

Also did you get a gps with internal or external antenna?

Do you think that Airmar will interface to my Raytheon RL series of displays?

Most probably. Jim Maier of BOE Marine would know for certain, but so far as I know, the Tilted Element 'ducer has connectors for all of the popular brands. You just need to specify what sounder you have when ordering to get the proper connector.

Playing on other sites that have nothing to do with boats.

Fixing boats, chasing girls and fishing. It's great to be retired. :)

HeHe Sorry, but that's like taking the freee AOL when you buy a new computer. :(

Oh, it isn't as bad as that. I was having a difficult time deciding on a "feeeeshfinder" for the new boat. I had had some unsatisfactory experiences with Furuno, I didn't much like the display on the Garmin units, and it was coming down to Lowrance (which I do like a lot) and Raymarine. I checked out the Raymarine at a boating store, liked the screen display a lot, and since my Parker dealer was also a Raymarine dealer, got the finder and through hull transponder as my "rebate."

Sal, The dealer would certainly do a bilge pump upgrade with a backup, but the install is a pretty simple DIY project that I did during the winter layup.
Plan it out, assemble the parts, and you can do the job in 1/2 an afternoon.

As for the GPS... the one in my 2520 (a Garmin 2010) has an external antenna. However, the one on my previous Dusky CC was a Garmin 182c and had an internal antenna. Even with a t-top, I doubt an external antenna is needed, tho a lot of people still put em on.

Hope this helps.
