Awesome job B-Faithful!!

I was out there and had a similar day. I thought I heard someone call you on the radio but I did not hear your reply. I was at the HS buoy and we limited out with over's (with 6 crew) in about an hour. I had my dad and one of his friends who caught his first Striper over 25" (it was 46" 35lbs) and he was so wore out his legs were shaking the last 30'. It was a priceless trip. I'm not a fan of catch and release so once I got my limit we called it an early day and went home to clean the boat and eat fish on the grill for lunch

I knew once you ran planners you would understand why people rave about them. They are the bread and butter of my fall fishing.. The more you run them the more comfortable you will feel with them and find you can run them with a small inexperienced crew with a little guidance. If you get a set go with 1"X12"X36" with "Offset". They are un-flippable in the bay. If you want plans or me to make you a set let me know I have a carpenter friend who enjoys making them.

max, Skip makes them and already made another set for me (and crimped line at 100' for me). He sells a lot of them around here as his are virtually unflipable too. they are just like the yellow ones above. I will probably only run them during the week and when i have at least one other experienced guy on board (at least until my son is a little older) The 3 boat rods I ran still caught 8 that day so I am sure I would have done well too with a full 9 boat rod spread. There is still no denying that the boards catch though.

I am shooting for two more trips before the end of the year and maybe a c&r trip before the kids go back to school.

If you are out give me a shout. Here are the days I am shooting for Dec 26 or 27, Dec 29 or 30, and Jan 2 or 3. I will fish either out of Solomons or PLO depending upon the bite. We will see what the wife has to say about my plans though  (70 hours on the Honda since Oct :D )

I'm doing the AM out of Point Lookout / Solomons on DEC 26th. I will call you on the radio and let you know how we are doing. We are usually the first boat in and looking for our spot an hour or so before light. I will PM you if I get some good info on the fish Christmas as I know many who plan to fish (weather permiting). Otherwise good luck out there and glad to see you are getting your boat stinky 8)

MaxOut. I pulled my boards for the first time yesterday at 100' of line. How far do you pull and how many lines? I dont want to pull anymore than 13 lines but the 100' seemed very short compared to teh 140' we pulled last week. Call me a convert.. Despite being able to catch without them, I recognize their effectiveness.

Thanks for asking what those orange things were off the side of my boat. At the time we only had 1 fish off the boat rods and the planers were producing. My crew was busting my stones all morning saying that it was about time I started pulling the ultimate "fish catchers"

I use 125' and put 4-5 lines on each side of the planners. Usually 4. I like them a little shorter than some as I can turn a little tighter. Seems like in the late fall the bait gets scattered and if you can't turn sharp and get back on the fish you loose them. The most lines I run is usually 18 but generally run 16. On my previous boat I too did not use planners often and did well but I allways use them on the Parker.

Didn't mean to rub it in but glad to see you like the planners  We Maxed Out (pardon the pun) at 9:00 AM and were looking for a tank but I am not a big fan of catch and release so we decided to pull them and call it early. All of our fish were over 40" and one was 46" so we couldn't complain. Had my all star crew and had a great time on great seas. Seems like that was the last trip of the season for the bay. Calling for 3+ the rest of the week  Oh well I got some goodies for the boat for Christmas and need to do some maintenance so I will give her a break until we bust on down to VA beach. Sounds like your Judge could definitely pass as a second home on your tax returns based on how often you use her. Are you planning on heading south? I am torn between a charter or bringing my boat?? I have a few friends with charters and is much easier but there is nothing like pulling them onto your own vessel

Wife is looking forward to me giving fishing a little break for a while. If I get out it will be local for some C and R. I will probably start in Mid march trolling again. I think I am most comfortable with a 13 line spread. I will probably keep it there. I will probably run the planers sometimes and not on others. It will depend upon my crew mostly. Without planers I will troll 9 lines so I am only gaining 4 more lines but I am able to get the baits up and in clean water and not do the pole rotation dance as much when hooked up.

Good luck in VA :D
